Quick answer: Bring the Sha-Chi boat alongside any wharf. When the E marker appears, press E to step off onto the pier. Landing at a dock requires no quest or item.
Every dock on Meigu Lake in Phantom Blade Zero opens up once you have the boat from the Sha-Chi Powered Boat quest. Landing does not set your respawn point. To do that, you walk to the dock’s bell and ring it.
How to land at a dock
The boat uses A and D for “Direction”, W for “Forward” and S for “Back”. It carries almost no momentum. It stops soon after you let go of W, and A and D turn it nearly on the spot, so lining up with a pier is easy.
Logs and reed islands scattered across the lake can obstruct the boat, so navigate around them. From the Boat Master’s dock, the journey takes about 170 seconds to White Serpent House Dock and about 40 seconds to Meigu Songhouse Dock.
Stay on the open-water side when you approach. At Meigu Songhouse Dock, sailing round to the far side of the pier gets the boat stuck under the stilts.
You can tell the bell worked at White Serpent House Dock, where the post stands by a bamboo gate. Ringing it plays the map scene and raises your Meigu Lake Map Completion.

Each distance is a straight line from the landing spot to that dock’s bell. The distances to enemies and chests are measured from the same landing spot.

Certain wharves have no dock bell. Acolyte Guhe’s island has one; another is 48 m from the bell at Zhang’s Hideout (Meigu Village), and the Mirage Estate shore has two.
Docks to go to first
Start with White Serpent House Dock, because it leads into the main Four Serpent Houses quest. It’s the dock the story points you to.
After that, a sensible order is:
- Meigu Songhouse Dock, for Yan’er’s memory flowers and the boss on the island
- Meigu Village East Dock and Meigu Village West Dock
- Pangzhen Sha-Chi Tower Dock
This order is a suggestion, not a rule.
If you die after landing
Once ashore, dying sends the boat back to the Boat Master’s dock. Board it again there, using the low landing or the water. Alternatively, travel back to Pangzhen Docks to reach the boat.
Ring the bell at the far dock and you’ll respawn there on foot; the boat remains at the Boat Master’s dock.
