A Soul’s Worth Quest Walkthrough in Phantom Blade Zero: All Steps and Rewards

Quick answer: From the Mountain God Temple, grapple over the broken bridge, ring the Path of Silver and The Last Mandate Encampment bells, climb to the Soulrend Cliff bell, then pick “No turning back now. Forward it is!” in the ravine below the summit.

Start at the Mountain God Temple

After the Mountain God Temple cutscene, the Mount Soulrend map becomes available, showing a newly added bell named Mountain God Temple and the A SOUL’S WORTH quest card. The objective is “Reach Soulrend Cliff”. Inside the temple, the bell is a crane-and-bell shrine; see the bell locations guide for the rest.

Beside the seated buddha statues, a chest lies 5 m from the bell. Inside is the Craftsman’s Tool Kit, which lets you Soul Temper the Bonesaw. In the quest log’s Story tab, A SOUL’S WORTH is active with the line “The Loong’s roar beneath the abyss”; THE WAY FORWARD is listed as completed. Its map marker is far away, in unexplored fog.

The Memory Flower of the Monster I. Scrawny Leg is beside the steps of the red-draped shrine, around 80 m down the snowy trail. It is one of the mountain’s memory flowers.

Cross the broken bridge to the Path of Silver

Leave the temple by the snowy route and continue until you reach a shattered timber bridge spanning a deep gorge. Avoid leaping from the snowy shelf before the gap: it ends in a sheer drop, with no grapple prompt.

Head to the tip of the narrow surviving section of the old bridge on the ledge’s left side. The “L Ctrl” prompt for the scaffold opposite the gap appears only when you reach that end.

Use Left Ctrl when prompted to swing Soul across on the Hunter’s Chain Sickle; the grapple guide explains how it works. Without an on-screen prompt, Ctrl instead launches a Phantom Edge attack, whose lunge may send Soul off the stub.

Follow the narrow plank walkway along the cliff from the landing. Partway along, Xuan Li’s Memory Flower IV. Meng Hua lies on the planks.

At the walkway’s far end, grapple to the “L Ctrl” anchor above on the rock. Soul will swing across and land on a small plank platform.

Drop down to the snowfield and press E at the bell post among the spears and bodies. The menu is headed Path of Silver.

The hut chest and The Last Mandate Encampment bell

Move on past the Path of Silver bell and a short scene plays on a road littered with dead Order soldiers and spears stuck in the snow, with Soul reacting to the carnage.

Go up the stone steps toward the rock face topped by a hut. At the cliff top, wait until “L Ctrl” appears, then grapple upward.

Open the chest by the wooden railing inside the hut. It gives Flawless Twinned Metal + 4, Universal Solvent + 16, Flawless Forged Metal + 15, and Traversal Talisman + 6.

Follow the snowy trail until you reach a shrine post lit and ringed with candles, then ring it. The bell is The Last Mandate Encampment.

With both bells lit, the objective still reads “Reach Soulrend Cliff”. The mountain also holds more beyond this bell: the Last Mandate camp with a chest and Cui’s parents, the Frostcliff Cavern bell, and The Giant’s Lair bell, home to the Crusher and the Saw fight.

Beyond the Path of Silver bell, the snowy slope climbs the mountain in a series of long zigzags. The landmarks that follow each mark a separate stretch of the ascent.

Farther up, approach the base of a narrow rock canyon and face inward. Move ahead until a white Space prompt appears on the rock, then press Space to sprint up the left wall.

On the summit side, spot the chain ring suspended over a gap. From the snowy shelf opposite, aim your view upward at the ring and wait for its white Ctrl prompt; press Ctrl to grapple across. Soul will arrive on the summit snowfield beneath an aurora.

On a raised shelf, the bell is a wooden cross wrapped in red cords, with red candles around it. Go around the shelf to reach the incline leading up, then press E. Its menu title is “Soulrend Cliff”.

Ring the bell and rest before moving on to the next part of the quest.

The Forward choice ends A Soul’s Worth

In a dark rocky ravine below the summit, with an icy stream running through it, a conversation with Inanis’s voice starts on its own. The voice urges Soul to follow his own heart, then offers two options: “There’s still unfinished business. Return later.” and “No turning back now. Forward it is!”

Choosing the second option means you have reached the point of no return, as its wording makes clear. Take care of anything you still want to do beforehand; the missables list shows what to check.

Pick Forward and the screen fades to black, showing the card “A SOUL’S WORTH” “END OF CHAPTER”. That’s how you know the quest is done. At the same moment, the Steam achievement Through Frost and Snow unlocks, with the text “Step Into the Snow, Head for the Cliff”. It’s listed with the rest of the achievements.

What comes after A Soul’s Worth

Soul enters a storm and then reaches a road illuminated by blue snowlight. The spirits of people he has met address him in turn, beginning with Moji, followed by Yu’er, Iron Fever, Bai Chilian, and Lan Shaodi.
