Phantom Thief Goose in Where Winds Meet: How the Event Works and Its Rewards

Play as Goose Bobo to raid Heaven's Pier, bank the loot, and trade Goose Feathers before the event window closes.

Play as Goose Bobo to raid Heaven’s Pier, bank the loot, and trade Goose Feathers before the event window closes.

Phantom Thief Goose swaps out martial arts for mischief. Instead of your Wanderer, you take control of Goose Bobo and sneak through Heaven’s Pier, swiping valuables from the locals and dodging patrols. It’s a limited-time stealth mode running inside Where Winds Meet’s Version 1.8 update, and the loot you haul out converts into event currency you spend on prizes.

Quick answer: The event runs July 3 to July 31, 2026 (UTC+8). Open it from the Version 1.8 event menu, clear the Goose Emperor’s introductory trial to unlock Heaven’s Pier, then steal treasures, drop them at the Master Emperor’s stash, and trade them to the Goose Emperor for Goose Feathers.

Phantom Thief Goose event window

The event is live now and stays open until the end of the month. It arrived in the second phase of the Version 1.8: Companions Make Home roadmap rather than on the update’s June 25 launch day, so it sits alongside the homestead and companion systems instead of replacing them.

How to unlock the event

You can’t jump straight into stealing. The Goose Emperor gates the mode behind a short trial you have to clear first.

Open the Version 1.8 event menu and select Phantom Thief Goose from the time-limited activities.
Complete the Goose Emperor’s introductory trial. Finishing it is what grants you access to the missions.
Enter Heaven’s Pier as Goose Bobo. Once the missions are available there, the theft loop opens up.

Note: No minimum character level, story chapter, or prerequisite quest has been tied to the event, so the trial is the main thing standing between you and Heaven’s Pier.

How the theft loop works

The mode is built around stealth rather than combat. Goose Bobo’s job is to grab valuables scattered around Heaven’s Pier and get them to a stash before villagers, guards, or martial artists catch on. Deposit the loot, and it turns into Goose Feathers you can spend later.

ObjectiveWhat you do
Play as Goose BoboYour usual character is set aside for the event
Sneak through Heaven’s PierSlip past villagers, guards, and martial artists
Steal valuablesGrab treasure spread across the area
Deposit the lootReach the Master Emperor’s stash before you’re caught
Earn Goose FeathersTrade the stash to the Goose Emperor for currency

You can play it carefully or lean into chaos, since Goose Bobo has its own toolkit for distracting and disrupting the people chasing you.

Goose Bobo abilities

Goose Bobo comes with a set of exclusive moves built for sneaking and escaping. Learning when to use each one is the difference between a clean getaway and getting caught mid-heist.

AbilityUse
HonkDistract nearby enemies
PeckAttack or interrupt defenders
Bush ambushHide, then surprise an opponent
Stealth movementMove without being detected on the way to treasure

Goose Feathers and rewards

Goose Feathers are the only currency the event pays out. You earn them by completing objectives and banking stolen treasure, then spend them at the Goose Emperor’s exchange shop. Several rewards are on offer there, though the full list of items, prices, and any purchase limits opens up once you’re inside the shop.

You’ll know a run paid off when the deposited loot converts into Goose Feathers at the stash. If treasure isn’t turning into currency, it usually means you got caught before reaching a stash point, so the haul never registered.

Tips for cleaner heists

  • Read enemy patrol routes before you commit to a grab.
  • Bank valuable treasure fast instead of hoarding everything on one run.
  • Duck into bushes whenever a patrol is closing in.
  • Save Honk and Peck for moments when you need a distraction or a quick escape.

One thing worth keeping straight: Goose Bobo is not a permanent companion. The playable goose here is separate from Goldie, the pet you can recruit through the Version 1.8 Companion system. Once the event closes at the end of July, Goose Bobo and the Heaven’s Pier heists go with it, so bank your Goose Feathers and clear the exchange shop while the window is open.
