Unlicensed Dealer Contract in AC Black Flag Resynced: How to Assassinate from a Hiding Spot

Where to find the Templar associate in Havana and how to claim the full 2,000 Reales payout.

Where to find the Templar associate in Havana and how to claim the full 2,000 Reales payout.

The Unlicensed Dealer is one of the Assassin Contracts in the Dry Tortuga region of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. It tasks you with killing a Templar associate in Havana, and it carries an optional bonus for pulling off the kill from a hiding spot. Clear both parts and you walk away with the maximum reward.

Quick answer: Slip into a hiding spot such as a haystack or bush next to the Templar associate roaming the center of the camp, wait until he steps within reach, and trigger the assassination from cover to bank both the 1,500 Reales base reward and the 500 Reales bonus.

Unlicensed Dealer location and objectives

The contract is accepted from the southern pigeon coop in Havana, then plays out in the surrounding camp. The Templar associate does not stand still; he wanders around the center of the area, so timing matters more than positioning.

How to get the hiding spot bonus

Travel to Havana in Dry Tortuga and accept the Unlicensed Dealer contract from the southern pigeon coop. The skull icon will be marked on your map once contracts are available.

Move toward the target’s marker near the center of the camp and find a hiding spot close to his patrol path. Haystacks, bushes, and stalking foliage all count as hiding spots for the bonus condition.
Enter the hiding spot and stay concealed. Let the Templar associate walk within arm’s reach rather than chasing him, since leaving cover early forfeits the bonus.

Trigger the assassination directly from the hiding spot the moment he is in range. Killing him this way satisfies both the main objective and the secondary challenge in a single strike.

Note: If the target spots you and enters open combat, the hiding spot bonus can no longer be earned. Break line of sight, let him return to his patrol, and reset back into cover before trying again.

Confirming the reward

Once the Templar associate is dead, the contract resolves and pays out immediately. Completing the hiding spot challenge adds 500 Reales on top of the 1,500 Reales base, bringing the total to 2,000 Reales. If the bonus registered, you will see the full payout credited rather than the base amount alone.

How to unlock Assassin Contracts

Assassin Contracts become available as you progress the Overrun and Outnumbered main quest, where James Kidd introduces them. After that point they appear on your map and quest log as skull icons, and synchronizing viewpoints reveals the ones nearby. None of the contracts are missable, so you can return to Havana at any time to finish the Unlicensed Dealer if you skipped it earlier.

With the Templar associate down and the hiding spot bonus secured, the Unlicensed Dealer is one of the quicker Dry Tortuga contracts to fully clear on your way to a complete set.
