Cryogenic Coolant is a crafted material added in the Palworld 1.0 update, and it becomes a mid-game bottleneck the moment you start building better furnaces, cold-resistant armor, and advanced weapons. You don’t loot it from a node or farm it directly off a single Pal. You produce it at a crafting station once you’ve unlocked the recipe and gathered the right components.

Quick answer: Reach character level 31, spend the technology point to unlock Cryogenic Coolant, then craft it at a Production Assembly Line using 1 Aquatic Pal Fluids and 1 Ice Organ per unit.

Requirements before you can craft it

Cryogenic Coolant is gated behind two things: your technology level and a proper crafting station. You cannot throw it together on a primitive wooden workbench.

The in-game description reads: “A high-efficiency cooling medium made from special components derived from Pals. Used to regulate temperature in high-output devices. Can be crafted at Production Assembly Line.”

Cryogenic Coolant recipe

The core recipe is a simple one-to-one synthesis of two elemental components. Each unit of Cryogenic Coolant consumes one Water-type material and one Ice-type material.

IngredientAmountWhere it comes from
Aquatic Pal Fluids1Water-type Pals near beaches, rivers, and coasts
Ice Organ1Ice-type Pals and cold regions

Note: Some recipe listings also attach a Powerful Fishing Magnet to the craft. The unlockable recipe shown at the assembly line consumes Aquatic Pal Fluids and Ice Organ, so treat those two as the confirmed inputs and check your own crafting menu if your version prompts for anything extra.

Where to farm Aquatic Pal Fluids and Ice Organs

The fastest way to stock up is to target Pals that drop both materials at once. Pengullet and Penking carry dual Water and Ice typing, so defeating or capturing them yields Aquatic Pal Fluids and Ice Organs in the same run. Sweeping early-game beaches or clearing the outer rooms of icy dungeons without triggering the boss reset lets you collect dozens of each in one loop.

If you’re only short on one component, split your routes. The dense Gobfin packs at Gobfin’s Turf flood you with Aquatic Pal Fluids, while a trip into the frozen peaks of the Astral Mountains keeps your Ice Organ supply topped up. Water Pals like Celaray are also easy, low-risk targets when you just need fluids.

MaterialBest farming targets
Aquatic Pal FluidsGobfin packs at Gobfin’s Turf, Water Pals along beaches and rivers, Pengullet
Ice OrganAstral Mountains, icy dungeons, Pengullet and Penking

Tip: Ice Organs usually run out first because they aren’t collected passively like some base resources. Stockpile them before a recipe demands them, since cooling devices, cold-resistant armor, and advanced machines all pull from the same pool.

How to craft Cryogenic Coolant

Open the Technology menu, scroll to level 31, and hover over Cryogenic Coolant. Confirm the unlock prompt to permanently add the recipe to your crafting options.
Build and power a Production Assembly Line if you don’t already have one. A Production Assembly Line II, Advanced Workshop, or Ancient Workbench works too.
Crafting Cryogenic Coolant at a Production Assembly Line in Palworld
Cryogenic Coolant is produced at a powered Production Assembly Line.
Walk up to the station, press F to select a recipe, and open the Material tab. Choose Cryogenic Coolant from the list.
Set the quantity slider to how many units you want, then start production. A Pal assigned to the line will handle the processing, or you can craft manually.

You’ll know it worked when the finished Cryogenic Coolant lands in the station’s output and appears in your storage as a stackable material. If the craft won’t start, the usual cause is missing ingredients or an unpowered assembly line.

What Cryogenic Coolant is used for

Cryogenic Coolant spreads across a wide slice of the 1.0 crafting tree. Early on it powers storage and temperature control, and later it becomes a hard requirement for high-tier combat gear.

Because so many upgrades draw from the same material, it pays to keep a small stockpile rather than crafting one unit at a time. Farm Aquatic Pal Fluids and Ice Organs in bulk, run a batch of coolant whenever you’re at base, and store the extras near your advanced stations so a blocked recipe never sends you back to the beaches and frozen peaks mid-upgrade.
