Palworld: How to Get Shaolong (World Tree Location and Breeding)

Shaolong is a Dragon and Water Pal, Paldeck entry No. 192, and one of the 73 new Pals added in Palworld’s Version 1.0 update on July 10, 2026. It flies, it hits hard in a Dragon-heavy party, and it lives in the game’s toughest new region, so catching one takes preparation rather than luck.

Quick answer: Fly to the World Tree area and hunt wild Shaolong (levels 76–78) around the Alluvion Lakefront, then weaken it with Ice or Electric attacks before throwing a high-tier sphere. If you can’t win the fight yet, hatch one from a Huge Dragon Egg or breed two Shaolong together.

Where Shaolong spawns in the World Tree

Shaolong appears as a wild spawn inside the World Tree, the new zone introduced with the full release. It shows up during both day and night, and the easiest farming spot is near the Alluvion Lakefront, which sits close to a teleport point so you can reset spawns quickly. Wild Shaolong here land around levels 76–78.

If none are visible, fly a loop back and forth along the path to force the local spawns to refresh until a Shaolong appears. Spawns are shared with other high-level Pals in the area, so any of those points can roll into a Shaolong on a reset.

How to beat and catch Shaolong

Its dual typing gives you two openings. Ice-type attacks punish its Dragon side, and Electric-type attacks punish its Water side, so a lineup built around either element will carry the fight. Frostallion covers the Ice option, while Orserk or Grizzbolt cover Electric. Keep Dark and Fire Pals on the bench, because Shaolong resists both and will take extra damage as their attacks bounce off.

Come in leveled and geared. Bring an Ice or Electric Pal, strong ranged weapons, and enough high-tier spheres, since a level 70+ Shaolong resists weak capture attempts.
Chip its HP down with your element advantage. Watch for its charge attack and dodge or keep your distance while your Pal keeps pressure on it.
Throw your sphere once its health is low. Capture rate climbs sharply as HP drops, and a successful throw shows a “Capture Success!” banner along with its drops. That confirmation is how you know it worked.

Breeding and hatching a Shaolong

If the World Tree fight is out of reach, there are two other routes. A Huge Dragon Egg can hatch into Shaolong, and breeding produces one through a single unique pairing. Pairing two Shaolong is the only combination that yields another Shaolong, so this route requires you to already own one.

Stats, work suitability, and riding

Shaolong’s partner skill, Azure Sovereign, turns it into a flying mount and raises its Attack by 4% for every other Dragon Pal in your party. That makes it scale hard inside a Dragon-focused team, doubling as transport and a damage dealer. The saddle to ride it unlocks at Saddle Technology level 77.

Shaolong drops

Defeating or capturing Shaolong always yields Horn, Leather, and a Large Pal Soul. High-level Shaolong at level 70 and above add a chance at World Tree crafting materials and Ancient Relics on top of the guaranteed items.

There is also a boss version of Shaolong. Auri and Shaolong appear as a tower boss in Sunreach, unlocked after clearing Bjorn and Bastigor at the Feybreak Tower, and that fight rewards Ancient Technology Points. The same Ice and Electric weaknesses apply there, with the added twist that Shaolong will flood the arena, so keeping a flying mount on hand lets you rise above the water and keep attacking.
