Update 4.25 landed in Universal Tower Defense Z on July 21, 2026, and it leans hard into soccer. Built around Blue Lock and Inazuma Eleven, the patch adds a full soccer-style game mode, a faster tower defense variant, seven new units, a batch of Relics, two new gameplay systems, and three codes you can redeem right now.
Quick answer: The headline addition is the Universal Football mode. Redeem the codes Football11!, UniversalFootball!, and NewBlitzPass in-game first, then chase the new Secret units through the Adaptation Trial and Universal Football clears.

Universal Football and Blitz Football modes
Most of the new content sits inside Universal Football, a soccer minigame that builds teams from your units’ tags. Instead of the usual placement roles, positions are assigned automatically. DPS units play as Strikers, Support units become Midfielders, Utility units drop back as defenders, and Specialists act as all-rounders.
The mode drops the standard upgrade system entirely. You spend Cash on player drafts instead, and drafted units arrive fully upgraded with the best Relic and Trait sets you own. After a few waves, play shifts into a Football Phase where team chemistry decides whether you score. That phase runs on QTEs, and you have to hit them to put the ball in the net.
Universal Football comes in standard and Infinite versions, mirroring the Story and Legend stage split. Clearing it hands out new units, their evolution items, Relic sets, and more.

The second addition, Blitz Football, sticks closer to the game’s normal tower defense loop. Runs last only seven waves, so units that reach full power fast are the strongest picks here.
New events and their rewards
Two events run alongside the new modes, each tied to a specific unit payout.
| Event | What to do | Rewards |
|---|---|---|
| Universal Footballers Blitz | Finish quests and play the Blitz stage to clear event missions | Gems, Rerolls, and new units |
| Adaptation Trial | Complete trials, find hidden puzzle pieces, and play Universal Football | A new unit and its evolution item |

Chemical Reactions and the Sports Ball System
Two gameplay systems arrive with the patch. Chemical Reactions is a fusion mechanic. You combine two units into a stronger version that stays on the field for a limited time. Once that timer ends, the units that formed it either sell themselves or revert to their original forms.
The Sports Ball System applies to units carrying the Sports and Locked tags. These units start with the ball and pass it to another tagged unit every 10 seconds. Whoever receives it triggers a special part of their passive and picks up extra buffs based on the pass type.
| Pass type | Target | Buff |
|---|---|---|
| Tight Pass | Closest unit | -15% SPA, +10% Range |
| Cross | Farthest unit | +10% Damage, -5% SPA |
| One-Two | Random unit | Both units gain -10% SPA |
New codes and how to redeem them
Three new Universal Tower Defense Z codes shipped with the update. Redeem them through the in-game Codes button before you spend rerolls, since code rewards can front-load a lot of your progress.
| Code | Rewards |
|---|---|
Football11! | 100x Trait Rerolls, 20,000 Gems, 100,000 Gold |
UniversalFootball! | 25x Trait Rerolls, 25x Relic Rerolls, 25x Stat Rerolls, 25x Stat Locks, 100,000 Universal Gems (Level 20+ only) |
NewBlitzPass | 50x Trait Rerolls, 5,000 Gems |
UniversalFootball! only works if your player level is 20 or higher, so an “invalid” result there usually means you are under the level requirement rather than the code being dead.If you are jumping back in for this patch, the priority order is simple. Bank the three codes, run the Adaptation Trial for The Egoist (Rebel), and grind Universal Football clears for Blue Rose (Reborn) and Ace Eater (Zombie). From there, the Chemical Reaction fusions and the Cross-Fire Kick Synchro give you a reason to keep pulling on the Banner for King Footballer and the Exclusive Blitz Pass units. And since the game is free to play in full, none of the new content is locked behind premium purchases.
