Events in Storage Hunters: Open World fall into two clear groups, and each one changes how you should spend the next few minutes. Weather events flood the auction pool with mutated items, and playable events open up limited containers and activities that feed your Collection Book. Both are announced by on-screen prompts while you play, so knowing exactly what each one does lets you switch tactics the moment it starts.
Quick answer: There are four events. Two are weather events, Moonlit and Rain, which raise your chance of pulling mutated items. Two are playable events, Cargo Ship and Fishing Season, which unlock limited containers and fish for your Collection Book. When a weather event triggers, win as many auctions as possible; when a playable event triggers, meet its net worth gate and take part before the timer ends.
Weather events: Moonlit and Rain
Weather events are timed windows where items you win from lockers have a set chance to roll a specific mutation. They are the only reliable way to plan around mutations instead of hoping for a blind roll. Two weather events currently exist, each with its own duration and its own pair of possible mutations.
| Weather event | Duration | Mutation chances |
|---|---|---|
| Moonlit | 4 minutes | 4% for the Moonlit Mutation, 0.1% for the Firefly Mutation |
| Rain | 8 minutes | 4.5% for the Wet Mutation, 0.29% for the Shocked Mutation |
The mutations these events produce carry meaningful value multipliers. Moonlit sits at 1.5x and Firefly at 5x, while both Wet and Shocked land at 6x, above Gold’s 4x. That makes Rain the more lucrative of the two windows for high-end pulls, even though the top mutations from either event are rare.
How to get the most out of a weather event
When a weather event begins, prioritize winning as many auctions as you can to load your inventory with items that might carry the active mutation. Do not slow down over your vehicle’s weight limit during the window. Instead, use the Lost and Found box to store overflow items and keep bidding, so you finish the event with the largest possible batch of potentially mutated finds.

Add to Google Preferences →Playable events: Cargo Ship and Fishing Season
Playable events are activities you actively join for a limited time, and both hand out items you can only collect while the event is live. They exist to fill Collection Book entries, which reward you with cash, Gems, and permanent Luck Boost when you hit their milestones. Each one has a net worth requirement, so you cannot take part until you have earned enough.
Cargo Ship event
The Cargo Ship event opens the Cargo Ship entrance and lets you bid in auctions for Cargo Ship Containers. It runs at the Shipyard once every 3 hours and lasts 15 minutes. You need a net worth of $7,000 or higher to join.

During the event you can bid on four container tiers, each with its own entry fee. There are 63 unique items across these containers, including Accessories and Storage Boxes, and none of them appear outside the Cargo Ship event. Working through the Cargo Ship Collection Book milestones also pays out Cash, Gems, and a permanent Luck Boost.
| Container |
|---|
| Wooden Cargo Container |
| Cargo Container |
| Steel Cargo Container |
| Luxury Cargo Container |
Fishing Season event
The Fishing Season event lets you catch fish at the Lake and lasts 12 minutes. It triggers completely at random rather than on a fixed schedule. When it starts, head to the Lake or Pond where the Fisherman NPC stands to begin fishing.
You need a net worth of $10,000 or higher to obtain a Fishing Rod and take part. Fish count as regular items once caught, so you can sell them at your own shop or at the Quick Sell shop in the Shopping Mall for cash.
Event requirements and timing at a comparison
| Event | Type | Duration | Requirement / timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Moonlit | Weather | 4 minutes | None; occurs while playing |
| Rain | Weather | 8 minutes | None; occurs while playing |
| Cargo Ship | Playable | 15 minutes | $7,000 net worth; every 3 hours at the Shipyard |
| Fishing Season | Playable | 12 minutes | $10,000 net worth; occurs randomly |
Treat weather events as your mutation windows and playable events as your Collection Book windows. Weather is free to exploit the moment it appears, so react fast and hoard items in the Lost and Found box. Cargo Ship and Fishing Season both gate behind net worth, so once you clear $7,000 and then $10,000 you can start collecting the limited items and milestone rewards that only these events provide.
