Quick answer: Fake Fruit comes from Puppet Island, through Puppet Portal Infinite, Portals, and Operator’s Daily Mission. The daily mission pays 7 Fake Fruit for killing 2,500 Puppets in any mode.
Fake Fruit is a Mythic item in the Materials group of Anime Adventures, the Roblox anime tower defense game. Its description reads “+Required to evolve a special unit…”, and you can’t buy it. No shop sells it. The item’s own source line spells out where it comes from:
“Obtained from Puppet Portal Infinite, Portals, and Operator’s Daily Mission!”
Unlock Puppet Island first
Fake Fruit comes from Puppet Portal Infinite, Portals, and Operator’s Daily Mission, so start with those sources. The unlock chain in Update 21 runs in this order:

| Puppet Island stage | Unlock requirement |
|---|---|
| Act 1 | Clear Ruined City Act 6 |
| Acts 2–6 | Clear the previous Act |
| Infinite Mode | Clear Puppet Island Act 6 |
| The Threads (Puppet Portal) | Clear Puppet Island Act 6 |

Operator’s Daily Mission is the only Fake Fruit source with a fixed payout, so it’s the one to plan around.
Finishing the mission pays 7 Fake Fruit plus 500 Gems. You can tell the mission is done for the day when Operator switches to his cooldown line, “We drove them back for today, but they’ll be back tomorrow.”
Puppet Portal Infinite and Puppet Portals
The other two sources are runs rather than missions. Puppet Island’s Infinite Mode is open once Act 6 is cleared, and you can queue into it with up to three other players. Every Puppet you kill there also counts toward Operator’s mission, so both sources can run at the same time.
The Puppet Portal is a Mythic portal item with the description “+Use to open a special portal…” and 3 tries. Using it opens the stage The Threads, which requires Puppet Island Act 6 to be cleared.
How much Fake Fruit each evolution needs
Six units use Fake Fruit to evolve, and every one of them also needs Star Fruit.
| Unit (rarity) | Evolves into | Fake Fruit | Star Fruit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stringy (Secret) | Stringy (Awakened) | 40 | 12 |
| Joyo (Bounce) (Mythic) | Joyo (Mode IV) | 12 | 4 |
| Rebel (Mythic) | Rebel (Flame Ruler) | 12 | 3 |
| Operator (Place) (Mythic) | Operator (ZONE) | 12 | 3 |
| Captain (Timeskip) (Mythic) | Captain (God) | 12 | 3 |
| Gravity (Mythic) | Gravity (Sage) | 12 | 3 |
Each evolution also asks for colored Star Fruit (Blue means Star Fruit (Blue), and so on) and a takedown count:
| Unit | Other items | Takedowns |
|---|---|---|
| Stringy | Blue x4, Red x4, Pink x4, Rainbow x1 | 7,500 |
| Joyo (Bounce) | Red x1, Pink x1, Green x1, Rainbow x1 | 7,500 |
| Rebel | Blue x1, Red x1, Pink x1, Rainbow x1 | 7,500 |
| Operator (Place) | Blue x1, Pink x1, Green x1, Rainbow x1 | 7,500 |
| Captain (Timeskip) | Blue x1, Red x1, Green x2, Rainbow x1 | 1,000 |
| Gravity | Blue x1, Red x1, Green x1, Rainbow x1 | 7,500 |
Counting only Operator’s mission, a 12 Fake Fruit evolution takes 2 completions, which leaves you with 14. Stringy’s 40 takes 6 completions for 42. Stringy itself comes from the String Portal, which opens The Stringer and rewards Stringy.
