Anime Apocalypse: How to Get Subaru and Regulus in The Endless Cycle

Where both new specs come from, their full movesets, and the trait, upgrade, and gear setup that makes them hit hard.

Where both new specs come from, their full movesets, and the trait, upgrade, and gear setup that makes them hit hard.

The Endless Cycle update landed in Anime Apocalypse on 9/5/2026 and brought two new specs with it: Subaru’s Return by Death and Regulus’s King of Greed. They come from completely different places, they play nothing alike, and only one of them is realistically farmable on day one.

Quick answer: Return by Death unlocks through the Season 5 Battle Pass. King of Greed drops from the World Boss, which rotates with Dio. Equip either one in the Ability menu, reroll traits until you hit Flash, then buy damage upgrades before you queue into Infinite.

How to get Return by Death and King of Greed

The two specs sit on separate progression tracks, so you can chase both at once without them competing for the same currency.

SpecCharacterWhere it comes from
Return by DeathSubaruSeason 5 Battle Pass (The Endless Cycle)
King of GreedRegulusWorld Boss drop, rotating with Dio

Because the World Boss alternates between Regulus and Dio, King of Greed is only obtainable while Regulus is the active boss. World Boss Tokens are the gate there, and code rewards are the fastest way to stock up on them.

Return by Death and King of Greed movesets

Both specs use the standard skill layout, with Z, X, C, and V on the numbered skills and G reserved for the ultimate. Here’s what each one brings.

SpecNamed movesUltimate
Return by DeathMinya, Shamak, Unseen HandG-move, plus a full heal at Mastery 100
King of GreedSky Splitter, Earth Shatterer, Never Ending Rain, Slow DownG-move

Subaru’s kit leans on Unseen Hand for reach and Shamak for crowd pressure, but the standout is the Mastery 100 unlock. Return by Death restores your health bar completely, which turns a spec that isn’t a damage leader into a survivability pick for long Infinite runs.

Regulus is the aggressive half of the update. Sky Splitter and Earth Shatterer cover large chunks of the arena, Never Ending Rain keeps pressure on packed waves, and Slow Down handles anything that gets close. On the Hollow World map in Infinite, that combination clears sections faster than Subaru can.

Set up either spec before you queue

Open the Ability menu and equip either Return by Death or King of Greed. The spec you have equipped is the one that gets its own trait and its own upgrade track, so switch before you spend anything.
Go to the Traits menu and burn rerolls on the equipped spec. Flash is the Mythic trait you want here, and it rolls at 0.5%, so expect to spend a large stack of rerolls before it appears.
Open Upgrades, select the spec, and buy the Damage tiers with coins. The same screen also sells Cooldowns and Walkspeed upgrades, but damage is the one that changes clear speed immediately.

Equip a stat-bearing cosmetic from the Items screen. The Greed Outfit is the update’s best option by a wide margin, and The Endless Cycle also added the Tracksuit and the Mage Outfit.

Slot a pet. The Demon Beast carries the biggest damage line of the new additions, with Puck and the Fluff Dog also arriving in this update.

Here’s what the two best-performing pieces actually give you:

ItemStats
Greed Outfit+140% Damage, +160 Health, +10 Walkspeed, +10% Coins, +30% EXP, +30% Drops, +7% CD Reduction
Demon Beast (pet)+45% Damage, +110 HP, +5 Speed, 3% Lifesteal, +35% Coins, +25% DropBoost

You’ll know the setup took hold before the match starts. The rolled trait shows attached to the spec in the Ability menu, purchased upgrade tiers stop offering a BUY button, and the equipped outfit and pet appear on your loadout card. If your damage feels unchanged in a run, the usual cause is buying upgrades while a different spec was equipped, since the upgrade track is tied to the selected ability rather than to your account.

Codes for trait rerolls and World Boss Tokens

Rerolls are the bottleneck for Flash, and World Boss Tokens are the bottleneck for Regulus. Codes cover both. Launch Anime Apocalypse, open the codes menu, and paste them in one at a time.

Three Robux bundles shipped alongside the update for anyone who’d rather skip the grind on the cosmetic side.

Once you’re geared, Infinite on Hollow World is the cleanest place to test either spec, since the wave counter gives you a consistent benchmark to compare runs against. Gadgets stay in play too, so a control option like Black Hole covers the gaps between ability cooldowns.

Between the two, King of Greed is the stronger pick. Regulus puts out more damage and his moves cover far more ground, which matters most in endless waves where you’re clearing multiple groups at once. Return by Death is worth pushing to Mastery 100 for the full heal, but as a primary damage spec it sits behind Regulus.
