Field Crates turn up on 4 maps in an ordinary round. Dam Battlegrounds has the most with 63 spots, followed closely by Buried City with 59. Spaceport has 18, and Riven Tides has just 6.
None of these spots is guaranteed. Each round fills only some of them, and which ones is settled when the round starts. On Dam Battlegrounds the spots fall into 6 groups, and in the largest a round fills only 1 of its 8 spots. A Field Crate spot can also hold something else instead, so an empty-handed check is normal. On Dam Battlegrounds, head for Water Treatment Control and Power Generation Complex, with 7 spots each, then Water Towers with 6. On Buried City, Buried Properties has 10, Red Tower 9 and Piazza Arbusto 8. On Spaceport, try Shipping Warehouse with 6.
Spaceport changes under map conditions. Hidden Bunker, at difficulty 5 of 5, has 82 Field Crate spots there, and certain other conditions have 8.
