Cluster Coast Duck Vault in Fortnite Runners: How to Unlock It

Find the sunglasses-wearing rubber duck, grab the Duck Key, and crack open Cluster Coast's hidden basement vault for Gold and Rare Chests.

Find the sunglasses-wearing rubber duck, grab the Duck Key, and crack open Cluster Coast’s hidden basement vault for Gold and Rare Chests.

Cluster Coast sits at the southern edge of the Shattered Coast map in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3, and tucked beneath one of its buildings is a hidden vault stuffed with loot. Getting in is not as simple as walking up to a door. You need a special Duck Key first, and that means tracking down a rubber duck wearing sunglasses.

Quick answer: Find the sunglasses-wearing rubber duck around the central mansion (fountain, indoor pools, or aquarium), interact with it to get the Duck Key, then place the key in the display case inside the smaller building opposite the mansion. This lowers a secret floor and unlocks the basement vault.

Cluster Coast hidden vault location

The vault is not inside the mansion itself. It sits in the smaller building directly across from the central mansion. Walk in through the entrance facing the mansion, and the vault door is on your left in the first room. You will see the door, but it stays sealed until you complete the key step below.

The mansion you are looking for sits opposite the duck yacht where the Cluster NPC hangs out, so use that as your landmark when you drop in.

Where to find the Suspicious Duck and Duck Key

The Duck Key comes from a rubber duck wearing a pair of sunglasses, sometimes called the Suspicious Duck. It only spawns at one of four spots in and around the mansion each match, so check these locations until you spot it.

Once you see the duck, walk up and interact with it to pick up the Duck Key. The duck only appears in one of those four places per match, so if the fountain is empty, move on to the pools and aquarium.

How to unlock the Cluster Coast vault with the Duck Key

With the Duck Key in hand, head to the smaller building directly across from the mansion. Go through the main door and turn into the first room on the left, where a glass display case is waiting.

Interact with the display case to place the duck. This lowers a secret floor and opens up access to the basement below the building.
Follow the basement down and look to your left. The vault door, which sits opposite the pool, is now unlocked automatically. Step inside to claim the loot.

You will know it worked when the floor drops after placing the key and the previously sealed vault door opens without any further input.

What’s inside the Cluster Coast vault

The reward makes the detour worthwhile, especially since most players have no idea the vault exists. As your opening loot drop, you can walk away with a strong stockpile of Gold plus several chests.

  • Over 2,000 Gold
  • 2 Rare Chests
  • 2 regular Chests
  • 2 Ammo Crates

The Rare Chests can drop high-rarity weapons, including a Legendary Hunting Rifle. There is also a port-a-potty inside that serves as a quick escape route once you have grabbed everything, so you can leave without backtracking through the basement.

Because this vault uses the Duck Key rather than a random Rare Vault Key or keycard, it is one of the most reliable early loot routes on the map. Land at Cluster Coast, sweep the four duck spawn spots, and you can be fully geared before most lobbies have finished their first fight.
