Pumpkin Pete is the giant smiling pumpkin NPC in Caustic Hallow, the Halloween island added to Fisch with FischFright 3. His major quest is the only way to get Gourdemort’s Rose. You need that rose later to awaken one of the skeletal hand pedestals in the ritual circle. The quest is short, and three of its four objectives come from trick-or-treating and spending Treats.

Quick answer: Trick-or-treat until you have 5 knocks and 5 candy-type fish, catch one Jack-O-Angler, feed 5 Treats to each of Pete’s 4 Jack-o-Lanterns, then talk to Pete.

Pumpkin Pete location in Caustic Hallow

To reach Caustic Hallow, talk to the Dutchman Captain aboard the Flying Dutchman, which is docked on the east side of Moosewood. He sets sail for the event island. Once you arrive, Pete sits on a small rise next to one of the houses at GPS (-14727, 148, -10009). His overhead name tag reads “Pete.” Use the [E] Talk prompt on him to start the quest.

The quest then appears under Major Quests in your Quest Book. The book tracks a counter for each objective, so you can check your progress at any point.

Pumpkin Pete quest objectives

Pete opens with “Go knock on some doors and bring me a sugar rush!” The four objectives are listed below, with the exact Quest Book text.

Quest Book objectiveTargetHow it fills
Trick-or-Treat 5 times5/5Knock on house doors
Randomly receive 5 candy-type fish at doors while Trick-or-Treating, then return them.5/5Random drops from knocks
Catch and return a Jack-O-Angler1/1Fishing Rod or Harpoon
Give 5 Treats to Pete’s Jack-o-Lantern friends4/420 Treats total

Before you start, have a Candy Bucket equipped, because trick-or-treating needs one. You also need at least 20 Treats on hand for the last objective. Trick-or-treating itself pays out Treats, so the first two objectives usually cover that cost.

How to complete the Pumpkin Pete quest

Objectives 1 and 2 progress together, so do them first. The Jack-O-Angler and the lanterns can come in either order after that.

Walk up to a house door in Caustic Hallow and use the “Trick or Treat!” prompt. Each knock adds one to the first counter. Move between houses until it reads 5/5.

Keep knocking until five candy-type fish have dropped. Examples include the Jawbreaker Jellyfish, Pop-Rock Pufferfish, and Candy Corn Pack. Not every knock gives a fish, and many give Treats instead, so expect to visit well over five doors.

Fish the waters around Caustic Hallow with a Fishing Rod or a Harpoon until you land a Jack-O-Angler. Any variant counts, including mutated ones like a Possessed Webbed Jacko Angler.

The Jack-O-Angler prefers Black Licorice or Hallow-Pop bait, Jack-o-Moon weather, nighttime, and the Autumn season. Fishing under those conditions shortens the wait.

Find the four glowing carved Jack-o-Lanterns near Pete. They sit around the large pumpkin statue in front of him and near the nearby houses and fences. Interact with each one to hand over 5 Treats. You’ll see “You lost -5 Treats” and “The Jack-o-Lantern looks satisfied.” each time, and the counter goes up by one.
With all four counters full, return to Pumpkin Pete and talk to him. He says “Take this rose, you’re officially part of the pump-crew!” and the quest closes.

You’ll know it worked when the screen shows “You just got a Gourdemort’s Rose!” and “You received +2500 Treats,” followed by an XP popup.

XP15,000 (listed)

The Quest Book lists 15,000 XP. The turn-in popup can show a larger figure, such as +30,000 xp, because bonus XP is applied when you hand in the quest.

Gourdemort’s Rose is a ritual item and one of four roses used in FischFright 3 rituals. The others are Davy’s Rose, the Ethereal Rose, and the Fable Rose. Take Gourdemort’s Rose to the underground ritual circle, which is ringed with red glowing runes, and find the skeletal hand pedestal that shows “Awaken with Gourdemort’s Rose.” Press [E] Awaken to activate that pedestal.
