Halloween: The Game — How to Arrest Michael Myers

The full detainment sequence, from police calls and the CB radio to the handcuff meter, knockdown, and final Arrest prompt.

Michael Myers cannot be killed in Halloween: The Game. Shotguns, pickaxes, flare guns and melee throws will knock him over and buy your team seconds, but nothing on the map ends him permanently. The one way to remove him from the match is to get the law involved and detain him, which instantly ends the round in the civilians’ favor. It is the hardest win condition in IllFonic’s 1v4 asymmetrical horror game, and it fails most often because teams skip a prerequisite rather than because they lack firepower.

Quick answer: Call the police through residents and phones, get one player into spectator mode so they can use a CB radio to return as Dr. Loomis (or roll the Police Reinforcements perk to come back as an officer), keep Michael surrounded by police until the handcuff meter above him fills, knock him down with concentrated damage, then hold interact and complete the minigame before he gets up. The match ends on MICHAEL DETAINED!

Arrest requirements in Halloween: The Game

The arrest is a chain, and every link has to exist at the same time. If Michael keeps standing back up after your squad dumps ammo into him, one of these pieces is missing.

RequirementHow you get it
Police presence in HaddonfieldConvince residents to use “Call for Help” and complete phone calls yourself
A player-controlled officerOne player escapes or dies, then uses a CB radio to spawn as Dr. Loomis, or gets the Police Reinforcements perk from spectator minigames
Arrest meter filledKeep Michael surrounded by Loomis or cops until the handcuff icon on him fills
A knockdown after the meter is fullRanged weapons, thrown melee weapons, flashlights and flare guns to blind him
One player free to finish the promptHold interact on the downed Michael and pass the minigame

Note: regular officers count for the arrest. Loomis is not mandatory, he is simply the most reliable way to guarantee one exists on your side.

Raise the police presence in Haddonfield

Track down NPC residents and talk to them. Each conversation opens a short persuasion minigame that you have to pass to convince them they are in danger. Clear it and the “Call for Help” dialogue option unlocks.
Use the phones inside houses to call the police yourself. The call gives you two attempts at the timing minigame, and both have to land for the call to count. Every successful call pushes more officers into the neighborhood.
Expect interference. Michael can cut phone lines or simply walk in on you mid-call, so make the call from a house you can leave quickly and keep a window or door behind you.

Weapons matter here too, but only as control tools. Houses and yards are stocked with firearms and melee gear, and melee weapons can be thrown for heavy damage. Save something for the phase where a stun has to hold Michael in place, instead of burning your ammunition on chases that go nowhere.

Get Dr. Loomis or a police officer onto your team

This is the step most squads never reach. Somebody on your team has to leave the active civilian side first, either by escaping or by dying to Michael. Only from spectator mode do the two routes back open up.

Send one player to a confirmed escape and let them take it. That is far cleaner than feeding a healthy civilian to Michael, and it still produces the spectator you need.
Have a surviving player go to a CB radio, which is marked on the map and HUD, and call for help. Completing that call brings the spectating player back into the match as Dr. Loomis.
If no radio is reachable, work the spectator minigames instead. Clearing them can award the Police Reinforcements perk, which returns that player as a police officer. It is luck-based, so do not sit on the spectator screen waiting for it when a CB radio call is already available.

Fill the arrest meter with police pressure

Once Loomis or a player-controlled cop is on the field, positioning beats scavenging. The arrest meter is the handcuff icon that appears floating on Michael, and it only builds while he is close to the authorities. Damage alone does nothing for it.

Stuns are how you keep him there. A firearm shot, a thrown weapon, a flashlight beam or a flare gun all interrupt him for a few seconds, and those seconds are only useful if he is standing beside officers. Stunning Michael alone at the far end of the street deals damage without moving the arrest forward, and the teammate sprinting after him across empty yards is dragging the target away from the people who need it.

If POLICE WAGON CALLED shows up on your HUD while the handcuff icon is visible, the sequence is progressing. That is not the moment to break off and start searching houses again.

Knock Michael down and hold the Arrest prompt

Wait until the handcuff meter is full, then commit everything at once. Ranged weapons do the heavy lifting, with flashlights and flare guns blinding him while melee players close in and swing.
Have one player already standing near him when he hits the ground. The downed window is short, and Michael has his own minigame to get back up, so nobody should be running in from another yard or stopping to heal.
Hold the interact button on the downed Michael to trigger Arrest, then complete the input minigame. One player commits to the prompt while the rest hold the space around them. Extra bodies piled on him do not speed the minigame up.

You know it worked when the round stops immediately and the result screen reads MICHAEL DETAINED! There is no follow-up escape phase. Surviving civilians do not need to reach the cellar, the sedan or a gate afterward.

Tip: character choice and perks buy you a bigger window. Laurie Strode’s Knockout trait extends how long Michael stays incapacitated, a high Poise stat makes knockdowns easier to land, and perks that boost downed time stack on top of that.

Why the arrest fails

Failed attempts look almost identical to successful ones right up to the last few seconds, which is why teams misdiagnose them. There are only a handful of real causes.

  • No player-controlled officer or Loomis is in the match, so the handcuff meter never appears.
  • Michael is being downed away from the police, so the meter is not building between knockdowns.
  • The knockdown happened before the meter filled, and he simply gets back up.
  • The player holding the prompt is too far away or too low on health to survive the interaction, and Michael recovers mid-animation.

Repeated knockdowns far from officers are not a sign that you are close. If the handcuff icon is not filling, the sequence has stalled at an earlier step.

When to take the escape instead

Detainment is one win condition among several, and it is the fragile one. The storm cellar, the repaired sedan, the fence gate and the police wagon all end your night just as successfully, and none of them need a CB radio, a spectator or a full arrest meter.

Commit to the arrest when the pieces are converging: police active nearby, a spectator on the radio, Loomis or Reinforcements in play, a stun option in hand, and enough living players to pin Michael down. If the cellar is already open, nobody has reached a radio, and your weapons are running dry, the exit you have earned is the better win.

Halloween: The Game launched on September 8, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, and the arrest is still the rarest sight in Haddonfield. It rewards a team that plans the whole round around it rather than one that improvises in the last minute, which is exactly why the MICHAEL DETAINED! screen feels like a win worth chasing.
