The Hildibrand quests are a long-running comedy side story in Final Fantasy XIV that starts in A Realm Reborn and continues through every expansion except Shadowbringers. Following the whole chain unlocks emotes, minions, mounts, and several Trials, and it is a hard requirement if you want to start the Endwalker Manderville Relic Weapon line.
Quick answer: Reach level 50 on any Disciple of War or Magic job, finish the main scenario quest The Ultimate Weapon, then talk to Wymond in Ul’dah – Steps of Nald (X: 9.8, Y: 8.7) to pick up The Rise and Fall of Gentlemen. After that, complete each expansion’s main scenario to unlock the next batch.
Requirements before you start
Each expansion’s Hildibrand chain is gated behind level and story progress. You must also complete the previous expansion’s chain before the next one appears. These are regular side quests with standard markers, not the blue quest icons used for job or feature unlocks, so check map coordinates rather than looking for the special symbol.

Because the chain runs from level 50 all the way to 100, it doubles as a way to earn experience on jobs you are leveling. There were no Hildibrand quests in Shadowbringers, so the story jumps from Stormblood straight to Endwalker.
A Realm Reborn quests (level 50)
This is the longest set, since it introduces Hildibrand, Nashu, and the rest of the cast. Start with Wymond after clearing The Ultimate Weapon. The table lists each quest in order with its starting NPC, location, and any reward it unlocks.

Heavensward quests (level 60)
After finishing the Heavensward main scenario at level 60, speak to Nashu Mhakaracca in The Pillars to resume the story. This chain is shorter and centers on the mysterious mammet named Gigi.

Stormblood quests (level 70)
Once you clear the Stormblood main scenario, head to Kugane and speak with the Conspicuously Inconspicuous Man. This chain includes the Yojimbo battle and one of the most popular emotes in the game.

Endwalker quests (level 90)
The chain skips Shadowbringers entirely and picks back up after the Endwalker main scenario. Start with the Excitable Youth in Radz-at-Han. Completing this chain through Gentlemen at Heart is the requirement for beginning the Manderville Relic Weapon line.

Dawntrail quests (level 100)
The most recent chapter, called the Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures, opens at level 100 after the Dawntrail main scenario. Talk to Nashu Mhakaracca in Tuliyollal, southeast of the main Aetheryte Plaza, to start The Case of the Displaced Inspector. That first quest sends you to Brightbloom Post to question Landsguard soldiers, then on to Heritage Found and Solution Nine.

How to confirm each chain is complete
You know a chain is finished when the final quest hands over its reward and no follow-up quest marker appears from that expansion’s NPCs. The next expansion’s opener will not show up until two things are true: you have completed the previous Hildibrand chain, and you have cleared that expansion’s main scenario at the listed level.
The most common reason the next quest fails to appear is missing main scenario progress. For the Dawntrail chain specifically, you need the level 100 MSQ quest Dawntrail done, and every prior chain through the level 90 quest Gentlemen at Heart cleared. If a marker is missing, verify those prerequisites before searching the map.
Beyond the emotes and minions, finishing every chain adds several Trials to your Duty Finder roulettes, including Battle on the Big Bridge, The Dragon’s Neck, Kugane Ohashi, and The Gilded Araya. If your goal is the Manderville Relic Weapon, the Endwalker chain is the gate you have to clear first.
