Siren waits at the summit of Siren’s Tower and closes out Chapter 1, “Tailing the Truth”. She can hit the whole party with El Niño and turn one of your own characters against you with Charm. A little preparation removes most of that risk. If you’re tracking every major fight, Siren is one entry on the full bosses list.
Quick answer: Hit Siren with Rain’s Thunder, heal after every El Niño, and equip Monk’s Prayer Beads on anyone without Charm protection. Lasswell with Leah already has Nullify Charm.
| Siren | Value |
|---|---|
| Level | 11 |
| HP | 20,000 |
| Type | Avian |
| Weak to | Thunder |
| Resists | Water |
| Drops | Magicite Shard |
| Steal | Nothing |
Prepare at the save circle
The last save circle before the summit offers a Rest in a tent option, described as “Use a tent to fully restore HP and MP.” Take it so the party walks into the fight at full strength. The route up to that circle is covered in the Siren’s Tower walkthrough.

Next, sort out Charm. Monk’s Prayer Beads carry the description “Prevents Charm.” Put them on a character who has no other protection against it. Rain is the natural pick, and with the beads equipped he stays clear of Charm for the whole fight. You can earn a pair from the Secrets Unearthed side quest, and a chest on the tower’s second floor holds another.

Pack Ethers as well. Fina drains her MP fast in this fight and can run dry more than once. Save before you head up.

Siren is a level 11 Avian with 20,000 HP. The battle opens on the standard command menu, so you can check her details before committing to a plan.

Scan her with Libra. Icons on the info screen mark Siren as weak to Thunder and resistant to Water. Her Trait line reads “Uses Charm attacks.” She drops a Magicite Shard and has nothing to steal.

Siren’s attacks
Siren used seven attacks in this fight. The damage below is what each one did to a party at level 13 to 14 on Normal.
| Attack | Hits | Damage seen |
|---|---|---|
| Aero | One character | About 200 |
| Water | One character | 195 to 355 |
| Flash Flood | One character | About 295 to 380 |
| Ruin | One character, twice | About 230 to 285 in total |
| Slap | One character | About 390 |
| El Niño | Whole party (Water) | About 255 to 465 per character |
| Allure | Party (Charm) | No damage |

The single-target spells like Aero are manageable. El Niño is the one to plan around. It deals about 255 to 465 Water damage to each character, so heal the party after every cast.

Her Charm move is called Allure; pink hearts pass over the party when she casts it. Unprotected characters may become charmed. If Fina is affected, the message reads “Fina is charmed!” While charmed, an ally is uncontrollable until the status ends, leaving you without Fina’s healing for a few turns. Rain avoids the effect with Monk’s Prayer Beads, and Lasswell does too with Leah’s Nullify Charm.

Strategy: Thunder, stagger and steady healing
Each character has one job. Stick to it and the fight stays under control.
- Rain: Use Tronn’s Skills to cast Thunder each turn: “Black Magic Deal Lightning magic damage.” It costs 5 MP and exploits her weakness.
- Lasswell: Use Leah’s Cure to heal, including the option to target the entire party; if nobody needs healing, attack instead.
- Fina: Use Pray on the ally with the least health. The move heals one ally and removes a status effect.

Keep dealing Thunder damage to break Siren’s guard; the word STAGGERED then appears below her. Whenever this happens, Select Resonance offers two moves: Hibernal Fury, used by Rain and Tronn, hits five times with ice damage, while Healing Wind, from Lasswell and Leah, restores the whole party and grants Regen. Pick Healing Wind if allies are hurt; otherwise use Hibernal Fury. Siren may stagger repeatedly during the battle, so you’ll choose between them several times.

Watch the Limit Burst gauge. Once it fills, the Limit Bursts menu opens up for that character.
Rain’s Infinity Drive reads “Deal Fire physical damage to an enemy. Damage increases by 50% if target is staggered.” Save it for a stagger to get the full bonus. Fina’s Holy Ray also hits hard when her gauge is ready.

Keep Fina and Lasswell topped up with Ethers throughout. Each Ether restores 50 MP, enough to keep Pray and Cure going between El Niño casts.
Rewards
The Battle Result screen shows 700 EXP, 2,100 Gil, 30 MRP, and Magicite Shard x1. Hold on to the shard; Magicite Shards let you awaken a Vision.

After the fight: Fina’s choice and esper summoning
Siren keeps her promise to still the seas and tells the party, “I shall allow you to summon me in your time of need.” Rain then has to answer Fina, with the prompt “(How should I respond to Fina?)” You only get this choice once and the stat boost is permanent, so pick deliberately.

| Response | Fina gains |
|---|---|
| “Right, we’ll need to rely on your strength now more than ever, Fina.” | MP +10 |
| “Yeah, but not everything in fighting is about being on the offense. I’ll leave the defense to you, Fina.” | Stamina +3 |
| “Don’t sell yourself short. We’re a team—you’re already doing an amazing job, Fina.” | Spirit +3 |
The game confirms your pick with a message. Choosing the first line, for example, brings up “Fina’s MP increased by 10!” Every party member gets one scene like this, and all of them are in character choice answers.

Next comes the “Fina’s Esper Summoning Ability” tutorial: “Fina has learned how to summon espers! New espers can be acquired along your journey, though bringing them to heel will require a show of might. Only one esper can be summoned to battle at any given time.” Siren is now added to your Espers list.

You know the chapter has moved on when you’re back at the summit, the quest updates to “Ride the ship out of Grandport”, and the game autosaves. The next leg of the story continues in the full walkthrough.
