The Ex-Military class in Runaways gives you the strongest starting kit in the game, built around Heavy Armor, a Sniper, and a Large Backpack. It is one of only two classes that cannot be bought with in-game Credz, so unlocking it requires Robux instead of grinding cash from heists.

Quick answer: Open the Classes menu, select Ex-Military, and pay 559 Robux. The class equips permanently after that, and you spawn with its full loadout the moment a run starts.

How to unlock the Ex-Military class

Open the Classes button on the left side of the screen. This brings up the full list of the ten classes and their prices.
Select Ex-Military from the list. Because it is a Robux-locked class, its unlock button shows the Robux price rather than a Credz cost.
Press the Robux button and confirm the 559 Robux purchase. Once the transaction goes through, the class is yours for good and can be equipped from the shop at any time.

You know it worked when Ex-Military becomes selectable as your active class and you spawn into a run carrying the Heavy Armor, Heavy Bullet Pack, Large Backpack, and Sniper. There is no Credz path and no way to gift the class to another player, so a Robux purchase is the only way to obtain it.

What the Ex-Military loadout does

Every piece of the kit applies the instant you enter a playthrough, so you start each run combat-ready without buying gear first. Here is what each item handles.

  • Heavy Armor — massively reduces incoming damage and stacks a large yellow shield over your health bar.
  • Heavy Bullet Pack — stores your ammunition supply for the Sniper.
  • Large Backpack — the storage you need to hold looted items during a run.
  • Sniper — a long-range weapon that can one-shot enemies, and its bullets can pass through multiple targets at once.

The Large Backpack matters more than it first appears, because looted valuables have to be carried before you can pawn them. Large items still need to be dragged rather than picked up cleanly, but the extra capacity lets you clear more houses and stores before returning to a pawn shop.

Movement and melee buffs

On top of the gear, the class carries two stat bonuses. You move 15% faster and deal 30% extra melee damage.

The speed boost is the most useful bonus across a full run. It helps you outrun police, break their line of sight, and reach the Mexico border faster during an escape. The melee bonus gives you a clear edge in close fights against security guards, and it pairs well with shop-bought weapons like Brass Knuckles or a Sledgehammer for cracking vault doors.

Ex-Military vs Juggernaut

The main reason to buy Ex-Military is to skip grinding enough Credz for Juggernaut while still getting a heavy combat class. The two are built differently, and the comparison below shows where each one leans.

Ex-Military trades Juggernaut’s rapid-fire crowd control for range, tougher armor, more ammo capacity, and better mobility. That makes it strong for securing exit routes and picking off guards from a distance, while Juggernaut is better suited to standing in one contested spot and holding it.

Using the class through a full run

A run cycles through robbing targets, pawning loot, refueling, and eventually reaching the border. The Ex-Military kit fits every part of that loop. The Sniper clears bank tellers, museum guards, and border checkpoint guards from range with headshots, and its rounds punch through several targets lined up together.

Heavy Armor gives you a wide margin for mistakes, but it is not unlimited. Eating food such as bananas, drinks, cheeseburgers, and other items instantly restores both armor and health, so keep grabbing consumables from restaurants and diners as you move between towns. Medkits and bandages serve the same purpose when you are under heavy fire.

At the Mexico border, snipe the heavy border guards, activate the checkpoint booth to start the escape countdown, and hold a safe position while the timer runs. Standing where melee officers cannot reach you keeps the shield and health intact until the barrier opens, then sprint through the gate to trigger the “YOU ESCAPED!” screen and bank the run’s cash.

For players who want a combat-ready start without waiting to farm Credz, Ex-Military is the most complete Robux-locked option, giving beginners and veterans alike the armor, range, and speed to survive police pursuits from the first robbery to the border crossing.
