“A bloodthirsty weapon once wielded by the Saw, a Shadow Warden of the Order.”

Bonesaw arts
Bonesaw carries seven arts. Three are tied to its Tempering, Power Surge and base slots, and the other four unlock as you raise the weapon’s level at the forge. The process is covered in the guide to forge and weapon upgrades.
| Art | Unlocks | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Prey on the Mighty | Tempering art | “When fighting boss-level enemies, [Bloodsaw] Gauge buildup rate is increased. While in [Bloodsaw], Bleed Gauge buildup rate is also increased.” |
| Savage Finale | Power Surge art (costs 1 Sha-Chi Essence) | “[Power Surge] Consumes 1 Sha-Chi Essence to unleash a brutal series of grinding saw attacks, dealing increased damage to Guard-Broken enemies. This attack is unblockable.” |
| The Best Offense | Base art | “Standard blocks consume more Sha-Chi, but after a parry, the next attack has increased Sha-Chi Depletion.” |
| Guard-Break Pursuit | Weapon level 5 | “Press [Heavy Attack] against a Guard-Broken enemy to perform a follow-up attack.” |
| Cruel Advantage | Weapon level 10 | “Lv. 1: Slightly increases damage dealt to Guard-Broken enemies. Lv. 2: Moderately increases damage dealt to Guard-Broken enemies. Lv. 3: Greatly increases damage dealt to Guard-Broken enemies.” |
| Bloodsaw | Weapon level 15 | “Each hit builds the [Bloodsaw] Gauge. When the gauge is full, [Bloodsaw] activates for 15 seconds. While active, all attacks build the enemy’s Bleed Gauge and can trigger Blood Loss. This effect does not apply to Puppets, Golden Bodies, or Phantom Bodies.” |
| Elimination | Weapon level 25 | “After performing [Guard-Break Pursuit], greatly builds the [Bloodsaw] Gauge.” |
What Bonesaw is good for
Bonesaw is built to punish Guard Breaks. Guard-Break Pursuit at weapon level 5 adds a follow-up attack on Guard-Broken enemies. Cruel Advantage at weapon level 10 raises the damage you deal to them, and the Power Surge art Savage Finale also hits Guard-Broken enemies for increased damage. To get the most out of that kit, you need to know how to Guard Break enemies.
Bleed is the weapon’s other specialty. Bloodsaw becomes available at weapon level 15; when its gauge fills, your attacks add to an enemy’s Bleed Gauge for 15 seconds. The Tempering art Prey on the Mighty charges the Bloodsaw Gauge faster against boss-level foes. For another weapon with a bleed focus, see Jagged Steel. You can compare other options in the early-game best weapons list.
