How to Get Flawless Broadplate Metal in Phantom Blade Zero

Quick answer: Open the chest beyond the squeeze gap in the Scavenger Pens arena for Flawless Broadplate Metal x6, or buy it from Quick Hand Zhang at his Mirage Estate hideout for 2,880 Remnant Dust each.

What it does

Flawless Broadplate Metal sits in the “Weapon Upgrade Materials” category. Its item card reads:

“Legend has it that only those of a pure and sincere heart can smelt an ingot of such flawless purity. Yet as the world falls into decay and master craftsmen grow ever fewer, treasures of this caliber have become increasingly rare.”
“Required to upgrade Two-Handed weapons from Lv. 20 to max level.”

If you plan to take a Two-Handed weapon past that point, you need a supply of this metal.

Where to find it

Scavenger Pens chest (x6)

Make your way down the Crimson Manor shaft to the Scavenger Pens bell at the bottom. The bell sits on a shelf above an arena.

Walk off the edge of the bell shelf and drop into the arena below. The fall does no damage.

Cross the arena to the far side. Look for a rock blocking a gap in the wall.

Press L CTRL when the prompt appears on top of the rock. Soul squeezes through the gap.

Press E on the chest just behind the gap. It gives you Flawless Broadplate Metal x6, along with Universal Solvent x8 and Flawless Forged Metal x6, all from the same chest.

Cross back over the arena toward the rope wall beneath the bell shelf. Stand still facing it, then press Space to run up to the bell.

Mirage Estate chest (x7)

From the Nuo Mask Altar, walk back along the bamboo path. Follow it until you reach the pond court.

Keep going past the pond court. Carry on down to the lower level.

Find the wooden chest against a rock face. It is tucked in among crates and sacks.

Press E at the chest to open it.
