With update 2.3, Where Winds Meet introduced four Wandering Tales in Greenshade Village. Find the village on Qingzhou’s Eastern Peak side, immediately north of the leek plots at Crownleek Terrace. Each tale involves a brief clue hunt and awards a set payout. The in-game time is the main obstacle: two NPCs appear only at night, while another is available only during the day.
Quick answer: Do The Way of the Leek and Bread and Bun in daylight. Set the clock to night (Xu hour) for Yu Dun and Zhang Gou. Then switch back to day to visit Yan Dacong and finish Crown Leek.
Greenshade Village Wandering Tales: Rewards and time of day
All four tales pay the same base reward of 30 Echo Jade, 10 Qingzhou Exploration, 3,750 Coin, and 3,750 EXP. The results screen lists the EXP as Stored EXP. Every completion also adds 30 Jade Fish to your exploration progress.

Open the game menu, select Time, rotate the clock wheel to your chosen hour, and confirm the setting. Xu hour (19:00–21:00) is a dependable choice for night. Yu Dun and Zhang Gou also appear during other nighttime hours, including Zi and Chou. For daylight, choose Wei hour (13:00–15:00), Wu, or Shen.
The Way of the Leek walkthrough
Inkbound Order disciple Zhu Ling has lost her leek-growing manual and is pacing around the terraces. You can find two different manuals, and either one finishes the tale. The rewards are identical. Only her closing dialogue changes.
Find the leek plots at the north end of Crownleek Terrace, immediately below Greenshade Village. Speak with Zhu Ling among the leeks; this begins the tale and gives you its first clue.
Near the field, enter the open-sided wooden shed containing workbenches and exam baskets. Take the blue Super Leek Manual off the long table, beside a white cat.
To see the alternate dialogue, head west to the larger shed; an NPC is working there. Take the Supper Leek Manual off the table. Its description calls it a guide “filled with occult nonsense.”
Go back to Zhu Ling and choose Give. Carrying both manuals lets you pick which one to hand over. The Super Leek Manual proves to be a pirated version of Zhu Ling’s notes; giving her the Supper Leek Manual instead leads to another conversation.
Zhu Ling’s gift, in addition to the usual payout, is a Heart-Seeking Leek. Its description explains that she grew it to thank you. Keep it to claim another batch of rewards (see the Crownleek Contest section below).
Two food vendors in Greenshade Village each think the other is stealing their recipes. Do this one during the day, when the bazaar stalls are staffed. Neither vendor needs combat or an item hunt beyond the two misplaced foods.
At Everbloom Bazaar, find Zhang Xu at the Flatbread Stall and speak with him. There’s a steamed bun on his counter, an odd sight at a flatbread seller’s stall.
Follow Zhang Xu to Hao Zhiwei’s stall. Let the two argue about copying each other’s recipes. The tale completes when their conversation ends.
In some playthroughs the Steamed Bun and Flatbread are quest items you pick up with Rummage from wooden barrels near each stall. If a vendor won’t progress, check the barrels nearby and use Give to hand over the food.
Crown Leek: Collect the two fake omens
Among the four tales, Crown Leek requires the most time. A person has been scattering “omens” across Crownleek Terrace to promote its leeks. First gather the two props; you can do that at any time, before the clock becomes relevant.
Find the dirt path’s three-way junction and collect the Engraved Stone from its center. Its uneven inscription reads “Eat the Crown Leek for Longevity.”
Pull the Cloth Strip in the Fish Belly out of the fish. If it doesn’t appear on its own, open your bag, go to Quest items, select Strange Fish, and choose Retrieve Object. The strip carries the same longevity slogan as the stone.
Night: Confront Yu Dun and finish A Bandit’s Gratitude
After dark, Yu Dun and Zhang Gou are both in the woods below Crownleek Terrace. Set the time once to visit them both, then change it back to daytime.
Speak to him, select Give, and provide the Engraved Stone along with the Cloth Strip in the Fish Belly. He confesses that the omens were publicity stunts, then directs you to Yan Dacong, the Leek Chief.
A greenwood marauder named Zhang Gou is hiding in the bushes on the southern slope of Crownleek Terrace. He won’t appear until it’s night, so stay on the same clock setting.
Search the underbrush roughly 40 to 50 meters to the west. Wind sense tracking helps follow the trail. Pick up A Bag of Silver Coins from under a pine tree. It holds three taels of silver and 129 coins.
Use the marker to reach Greenshade Village, then enter Yan Dacong’s shop. Speak to the Leek Chief and give him the evidence if he requests it. He gives you Lu Wenxin’s Letter.
Fast travel to Crownleek Terrace, then locate Yu Dun once more in the southern woods. Give him the letter. He vows to end the false marketing, completing Crown Leek.
Crownleek Contest: What to do with the Heart-Seeking Leek
The Heart-Seeking Leek you received in The Way of the Leek has another use beyond being a keepsake. Carry it southeast to the Crownleek Contest map pin. A crowd is gathered beside a bulletin board and shed there; speak to Song Yiqiang and enter the leek. The judges name you the winner, despite Zhu Ling being its grower.

How to confirm each Wandering Tale is complete
At the end of each tale, a Wandering Tales notification displays its rewards: Echo Jade, Qingzhou Exploration, Coin, and EXP. The tale’s entry changes to Completed in the Wandering Tales menu, and Jade Fish exploration progress increases by 30. When all four Greenshade Village entries read Completed, the village has given you 120 Echo Jade and 40 Qingzhou Exploration, with any Crownleek Contest rewards added separately.
