What Your Eyes Hold is a Wandering Tale in Where Winds Meet that hinges on two things: talking to He Wandao only after nightfall, and pulling a hidden essay out of a cave near Moxin Lake. Get those two beats right and the quest wraps quickly, handing you Jade Fish, Trace Jade, and stored EXP.
Quick answer: Advance the in-game clock to the Hai hour, swim to He Wandao at Alkaid Pool in Hidden Mountain – Heaven’s Threshold, take the Sky Shuttle from Suxiang to Elder Crane’s residence, grab Zhang Wanshi’s Answer from the gap beneath the tracks, then return it to He Wandao.
What you need before you start
He Wandao only appears at night, so this quest cannot begin during the day. You do not have to wait for the clock to roll over on its own. Open the time wheel and jump straight to the Hai hour, which pushes the world into nighttime after 8:00 PM.
Travel to Alkaid Pool in Hidden Mountain – Heaven’s Threshold and open the menu. This is the same lake area you may have visited during the day, but the trigger only fires once it is dark.

Swim across the lake and speak with He Wandao. The conversation begins the quest and gives you a new clue that points to Elder Crane’s residence.

You will see the banner “Wandering Tales: New Clue Acquired” once He Wandao finishes talking. That confirms the quest is active and the next objective is set.
Open the map and mark the destination, then head to the Cloudcall Pedestal in Hidden Mountain – Suxiang. This is where you board the Sky Shuttle.

Interact with the Cloudcall Pedestal and choose Ride Sky Shuttle. The shuttle carries you along the line toward Moxin Lake, passing through a mountain tunnel.

Drop into the gap between the wooden crates beneath the tracks. Zhang Wanshi’s Answer is tucked in that lower space, so you have to fall in rather than search at ground level.

Collect Zhang Wanshi’s Answer. With the essay in your inventory, the objective updates to return it to He Wandao.
Note: Crane’s Ledger of Favors and A Sealed Jar of Wine are optional pickups. Only Zhang Wanshi’s Answer is required to finish the quest.
Turn in the essay and claim rewards
Return to He Wandao at Alkaid Pool and hand over Zhang Wanshi’s Answer. Delivering the essay completes What Your Eyes Hold and pays out the rewards below.

You know it worked when the essay leaves your inventory during the turn-in and the quest clears from your tracker. If He Wandao is missing when you go back, the world has likely rolled into daytime again. Reopen the time wheel, set the clock to the Hai hour, and he will reappear at the pool so you can complete the delivery.
