The Grillmaster on Island 3 keeps his grill unlit until you drop a shark at his feet, and the catch he wants is the Blue Shark. It only surfaces on a specific boss lure, and it hits hard up close, so the fight rewards patience and positioning over raw damage. Done right, it is a short encounter in How to Fish, the physics-based co-op fishing shooter from Dazed Games.
Quick answer: Buy a Standard Boss Lure for $280 on Island 3, cast it to fish up the Blue Shark, kill it with a maxed Uzi or a weapon of similar damage, then carry the body back to the Grillmaster and interact with the grill to start it.
Blue Shark stats and quest role
The Blue Shark exists for one purpose. It is the shark the Grillmaster asks for, and turning it in is what unlocks the grill. It is not a farming target, since it sells for very little compared to the reward you earn by handing it over.
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Health | 2300 |
| Sell value | $300 |
| Weight | 70.0 |
| Lure needed | Standard Boss Lure ($280) |
| Location | Island 3 |
| Reward | Grill unlock and the Grillmaster achievement |
Note: the Blue Shark is not the Goblin Shark. They share the same 70.0 weight, but the Goblin Shark has 7,500 health and sells for $6,200. Only the Blue Shark satisfies the Island 3 Grillmaster.

A regular lure will not hook the Blue Shark. You need the Standard Boss Lure, which costs $280 at the island shop. Buy exactly one, because island boss lures are always consumed on use rather than having a chance to survive like the smaller lures do. There is no reason to stock extras before the fight.

For firepower, a maxed Uzi is enough to bring the 2,300 health down cleanly. Treat that as a benchmark rather than a hard rule, since anything with comparable damage and a manageable reload works. If you have already bought extra inventory or hotbar slots, bring healing fish along so you can top up between the shark’s hits.
How to catch and beat the Blue Shark

Fighting around the coconut trees
Island 3 is packed with coconut trees, and they cut both ways. They block your dodges and can box you in if you are careless, but the shark also snags on them now and then, which hands you a free window of damage. The snag is luck, not a plan, so do not build your strategy around it.
Play the parts you control instead. Keep moving through open lanes, time your reloads for when you have distance rather than mid-scramble, and treat any tree-stick as a bonus. Positioning and reload discipline win this fight far more reliably than the shark’s pathing.
How to confirm the grill is unlocked
Once the Grillmaster accepts the shark, his grill lights and becomes usable. The hand-in itself does not complete everything, though. The Grillmaster achievement requires you to start the grill, so interact with it once after the shark is accepted rather than walking away the moment the dialogue finishes. When the achievement pops, you know it worked.
If nothing triggers, the usual cause is that the shark was never handed in. Selling or cooking the Blue Shark forfeits the quest, and you would have to lure and kill another one to try again.
Using the grill you unlocked
The grill is the real payoff, and it works as a money multiplier. Hold or place an item over the flame and press F to inspect it. The panel shows the value and cooking multiplier and updates live while the item heats up.
| Cooking state | Result |
|---|---|
| Raw | Base value (1x) |
| Cooking | Value climbs toward 1.5x |
| Sweet spot | 1.5x — pull it here |
| Burnt (solid black) | Value drops to 0 |
Pull every item at 1.5x. Leaving it on the flame past that point turns it solid black and drops the value to zero, and a burnt item restores almost no health or hunger. The multiplier applies to guns and other sellable items too, not just fish, so cook things you plan to sell first. Cook only sale items, since a cooked weapon can lose the visible look of a skin or camo.
With the grill lit and the Grillmaster satisfied, the Blue Shark’s job is done. From here, running valuable catches over the flame before selling turns the grill into a steady source of extra cash for weapons, lures, and boat upgrades.
