Update 2.0 turned Anime Expeditions into a summer event game. The Summer Siege patch adds nine units with evolutions, a Portals game mode with five tiers, the Tidal Siege wave mode, and a fishing system that pulls units, traits, and equipment out of the water. Most of it is gated behind one currency and a few very specific unlock conditions, so it helps to know exactly what feeds what before you start grinding.
Quick answer: Clear waves in Tidal Siege to earn Sand Dollars, spend them on Summer Capsules at 100 each for the limited units and skins, farm Tier 5 portals for Charged Dust or Djinn’s Treasure to craft a Secret Portal, and equip a rod from the Fishing menu to start filling the fish index.
Sand Dollars: The currency behind every Summer Siege reward
Sand Dollars are the event currency, and almost everything worth having in the Summer Shop is priced in them. You earn them by clearing infinite waves in Tidal Siege and by running Summer Portals, and the Summer Calendar login event hands out chunks of them on top of that. Day 1 alone pays out 2,000 Sand Dollars, which is enough for 20 Summer Capsules before you clear a single wave.

The same Events menu holds the rest of the Summer Siege activities: Tidal Siege quests, Kitsune Bingo, the Summer Fish Fest, and the Creator Spotlight mode. The in-experience event window runs from August 31 to September 11, 2026, so anything limited needs to be claimed inside that period.

Add to Google Preferences →How to get all nine new units
The nine additions break down into two secrets, two exclusives, and five mythicals, and each base unit ships with its evolution. They do not come from a single banner. Secrets are crafted through portals, the limited units come out of Summer Capsules, and Sharkfang has its own trigger inside Tidal Siege.
| Unit | How to obtain |
|---|---|
| Lightning God (Overcharged) | Collect 4 Charged Dust from Tier 5 portals, craft its Secret Portal, then defeat it |
| Sovereign (Djinn) | Collect 4 Djinn’s Treasure from Tier 5 portals, or earn crafting materials in Tidal Siege, then beat the Secret Portal |
| Sharkfang (Abyssal) | Mythic drop from activating the Sharktooth Conch during Tidal Siege |
| Rainman (Forecast) | Summer Capsules |
| Water Mage (Scholar) | Summer Capsules |
| Sand (Alligator) | Summer Capsules |
| Head Captain (Char) | Summer Capsules |
| Jester | Summer Siege event content |
| Kitsune | Summer Siege event content |
Charged Dust and Djinn’s Treasure both sit at a 4% drop chance from Tier 5 portals, with a 25-run pity counter behind them. That means a worst-case 100 runs per secret if the drops never land early, which is why the augment system matters.
Portals mode: Five tiers, augments, and pity progress
Portals is a consumable-based mode. You open one from your inventory, pick the tier, and fight through waves for unit equipment and crafting materials. Four portal types arrived with the update: Lightning God’s Portal, Sovereign’s Portal, Sky Ruins Portal, and Summer Portal. Sky Ruins is the one that stays permanently available; the Summer Portal costs 1,000 Sand Dollars in the event shop.
Augmenting a portal before you enter raises its difficulty, but it also raises reward chances and pity progress. If you are chasing a secret, augmenting is the fastest route to that 25-run counter. Auto Portal selection and Auto Augment settings were both added in the same patch, so you can queue repeat runs without re-picking everything each time.

Tier 1 Summer Portals drop you into the Coral Kingdom map on a single lane, which is a clean place to test a team. Tier 2 splits into multiple lanes, so you need enough placement budget to cover more than one approach. Waves play like the rest of the game: place units, then click them mid-round to level them up as cash comes in.

Everything a portal drops lands in your item inventory, which was reorganized in this update. Unit equipment, relics, and crafting materials all live there, and capsule drop rates are now visible while you open them.

How to fish in Anime Expeditions
Fishing is an event mechanic that runs alongside normal play. You can fish in the lobby and on maps, and catches feed into an index, an event rank track, and a milestone reward track. The whole thing is four actions.

You know it worked when the catch is added to your fish index entry for that map and your milestone counter ticks up. If the bar leaves the fish icon for too long, the attempt fails and you recast.
All five fishing rods and how to unlock them
| Rod | Unlock condition | Stats and passive |
|---|---|---|
| Normal Rod | Available to every player | 6–12 Lure Speed, 0.5 Control, 0.5 Control Zone. No passive |
| Auto Rod | Reach Wave 150 in Tidal Siege | 12–24 Lure Speed, 0.7 Control, 0 Control Zone. Skips the minigame in exchange for faster lures |
| Advanced Rod | Buy for 100 Sand Dollars in the Summer Shop | 5–10 Lure Speed, 0.5 Control, 0.3 Control Zone. No passive |
| Lucky Rod | 1% chance to drop from any catch | 6–12 Lure Speed, 0.7 Control, 0.35 Control Zone. Every 8th fish is guaranteed Mythic |
| Recycling Rod | Fish 100 times | 6–12 Lure Speed, 0.9 Control, 0.4 Control Zone. Every 10 items sold recycles a random item into a Legendary |
The Lucky Rod is the hardest to get because it is pure chance on every catch, and the Auto Rod is the grind option since Wave 150 in an infinite mode is a long session. The Recycling Rod is the one most players will pick up passively just by fishing enough.
Fish index locations, event ranks, and milestone rewards
The index tracks catches across five areas: the Lobby, Coral Kingdom, School Grounds, Flower Forest, and East Town. Each area has its own fish, so filling the index means fishing on maps you would otherwise skip.
Event ranks run from Novice through Experienced, Veteran, Master, and Grandmaster, and each rank you clear raises your rewards and grants a matching event title. Separately, milestone rewards run up to level 25, and the final milestone pays out the Flamingo emote.
Summer Shop prices
| Item | Cost in Sand Dollars |
|---|---|
| Summer Portal | 1,000 |
| Trait Crystal | 250 |
| Summer Capsule | 100 |
| Stat Reroll, Stat Lock, Equipment Reroll, Equipment Lock | 100 each |

Note: Summer Capsules are the only source of the limited units and summer skins, so if your goal is the roster rather than gear, capsules should get priority over rerolls and locks.
New equipment, skins, mounts, and cosmetics
| Category | Additions |
|---|---|
| Equipment (7) | Fiery Staff, Lightning Dagger, Poison Frog, Poison Hook, Spirit King’s Blade, Storm Trident, Tideblade |
| Skins (6) | Carrot (Summer), Sand (Summer), Sharkfang (Summer), Sovereign (Summer), The Hero (Summer), Rainman (Galaxy) |
| Mounts (5) | AE Surfboard, Crab, Green Surfboard, Pink Surfboard, Yellow Surfboard |
| Accessories (3) | Hot Dog, Pool Noodle, Popsicle |
| Emotes (2) | Crown, Flamingo |
Accessories can now be equipped to your player character, and the accessory inventory is expandable. Emotes also show up on your profile, so the Flamingo milestone reward is visible outside of matches.
Battle Pass Season 2 and the Phoenix Vids Creator Spotlight mode also went live alongside the event, and quality-of-life changes like trait swapping in a second slot, setting presets, and auto-selling farms on the last wave make the long portal and Tidal Siege grinds less manual. If you are jumping in now, start with the Summer Calendar claim, spend the opening Sand Dollars on capsules, and use portal runs to build toward a secret while the fishing milestones accumulate in the background. The event lives inside the Anime Expeditions experience on Roblox.
