Where the Medicus II Manual sits at Boar’s Back Tower, what the chest holds, and how to confirm the perk unlocked.

Crafting in The Blood of Dawnwalker is slow until you stop making potions one at a time. The Medicus II perk is what fixes that, and the perk only opens up once Coen reads a Medicus II Manual. One sits in a chest at the top of Boar’s Back Tower, a ruined climbable landmark west of Svartrau City.

Quick answer: Travel to Boar’s Back Tower, west of Svartrau City, climb to the wooden platform at the very top, and open the white chest there. Read the Medicus II Manual from your inventory to unlock the perk.

What the Medicus II perk does

Medicus II sits in the Witchcraft perk tree and controls batch crafting. Each upgrade tier raises how many items you can produce in a single pass, and the final tier hands you a free craft every in-game day.

Tier 3At the start of each Day, craft 1 item for free from unlocked Recipes (excluding Quest Recipes).

Boar’s Back Tower location and route to the chest

The tower is a ruined stone shell in the Boar’s Back region, sitting directly west of Svartrau City on the world map. The climb is the whole challenge here; there is no gate, quest requirement, or boss guarding the top.

Open the world map and pan west of Svartrau City until Boar’s Back Tower appears. Selecting the marker brings up the tower’s description panel.

Use the Track action on the marker so the tower stays pinned while you ride over. Fast travel to the nearest shrine first if you have one unlocked in the area.

Enter through the stone archway at ground level. A small bag just inside holds basic loot, so grab it before you start climbing.
Parts of the interior are blocked by rubble and boarded openings. Use your witchcraft to blow the obstruction apart, then cancel the aiming mode with Left Ctrl on PC once the path is clear.

Work your way up the wooden ladders and platforms bolted into the ruined walls. Keep circling the interior; the route spirals rather than running straight up.

The final wooden platform overlooks the valley and holds a white chest. Open it to collect the manual along with the rest of the stash.

The Beastmaster’s Ring is worth equipping on the way back down if you spend time hunting wildlife. It carries +16.7% damage against animals, a 12.6% reduction to dodge stamina cost, and +10% physical damage reduction.

Note: chest contents at towers are not always identical between playthroughs, and this same tower can also yield a Medicus I Manual. If the chest gives you the first-tier book instead, the vendor route below still gets you Medicus II.

How to confirm the perk unlocked

Picking the manual up does nothing on its own. Open the inventory, select the Medicus II Manual, and read it. Coen reads a lore entry titled “Be Your Own Healer, Part 1”, which is the confirmation that the book has been consumed.

Then open the Witchcraft tree in the Character menu. Medicus II should now show its upgrade node as available for a skill point, with the tooltip reading “Craft more items in a single batch.” If the node is still locked, the manual is sitting unread in your bags.

Buying a Medicus II Manual instead

Skill manuals are not limited to fixed spawns. They turn up in chests at soldier camps, bandit camps and monster lairs, drop from defeated enemies, and are sold by vendors, so there is no cap on how many you can gather.

Higher-tier manuals are expensive, running into thousands of Denarius, so the tower chest is the cheaper option if you are early in the run and short on coin.

Once the third tier is bought, every new day hands you a free craft from any unlocked recipe outside of quest recipes, which quietly pays for itself over a full playthrough of potion-heavy fights.
