Enshrouded 1.0 caps your character at level 50, and every level-up gives you 2 skill points to spend. XP comes from six activities: discovering locations, quest rewards, completing an item set, awakening survivors, killing enemies, and mining. They don’t pay equally. Quests can pay up to 3,200 XP in a single reward, item set completions up to 2,200, awakening the Blacksmith 1,400, and location discoveries up to 1,000. A mining reward is worth 4 to 12 XP. Enemy XP depends on the level gap between you and the target. Enemies above your level give up to 1.9 times the XP, and enemies below your level can drop to one tenth.
Quick answer: Make quest progress while finding new locations, awaken all survivors, complete item sets, and take on enemies at your level or higher instead of repeatedly fighting weaker foes.
| Activity | XP per reward | Most rewards of this kind |
|---|---|---|
| Quest reward | 5 to 3,200 | 75 to 1,000 |
| Completing an item set | 50 to 2,200 | 200 to 1,500 |
| Awakening a survivor | 1,400 (the Blacksmith) | – |
| Discovering a location | 25 to 1,000 | 125 to 500 |
| Mining | 4 to 12 | 8 to 10 |
| Killing enemies | scaled by the level gap (one tenth to 1.9 times) | – |
Each range covers single rewards of that type. Every XP gain appears as a small bar under the notice on the left side of the screen, so you can see what each action paid as it happens.
On your own world, the custom world settings have XP-gain sliders for mining, combat and exploration; our beginner’s guide walks through those settings.
Quest rewards in Enshrouded 1.0
Quests have the widest range in the game, from 5 XP up to 3,200, with most rewards falling between 75 and 1,000. They also lead you into new areas, survivors, and fights, so keeping a quest active means the other XP sources stack up as you go.
The first Elixir Well in the Springlands shows how this works. Once its boss is down, the objective changes to “Destroy The Shroud Root”. Destroying the Shroud Root at the bottom of the well pays “Quest reward XP +225” and also triggers “NEW LOCATION CHARTED!”, which adds a marker you can view on the map.

Add to Google Preferences →Completing an item set
Finishing an item set pays between 50 and 2,200 XP, and most completions land between 200 and 1,500. That makes set completion the second-largest single payout after quests.
Awakening survivors and the LEVEL UP! screen
Waking a survivor is a single large XP payment. Walk up to the sleeping survivor and use the “E Awaken Survivor” prompt.
Awakening the Blacksmith pays “XP +1400” in one go. The same moment shows “RECIPE UNLOCKED! Metal Sheets at Forge”, and in our game it also brought “LEVEL UP!”.

Every level-up displays a “LEVEL UP!” badge with your new level number and the prompt “H Invest Skill Points”. Press H to open the Skills screen and spend the 2 skill points you get per level.

Discovering locations
New places pay between 25 and 1,000 XP when you discover them, with most discoveries worth 125 to 500. You don’t need to detour for them. Following a quest naturally takes you to new spots. Reaching the vault where the Blacksmith sleeps, for example, pays “Location discovered XP +400” and updates the quest with “QUEST UPDATED Find the Sleeping Survivor”, which then sets up the survivor payout above.
Ancient Spires, obelisks and Flame Shrines are all places to discover; see all Ancient Spire locations, all Ancient Obelisk locations and the interactive map.

Mining XP
Mining pays 4 to 12 XP per reward, and most rewards are 8 to 10. You’ll pick it up while gathering materials, but next to a single quest reward or location discovery it barely moves the bar.
Killing enemies: how the level gap scales XP
Combat XP has no fixed value. It scales with the difference between your level and the enemy’s:
- Enemies above your level give more XP, up to 1.9 times the base amount.
- Foes under your level award less XP, with rewards falling as low as one tenth.
Weak enemies become poor XP targets as your level rises, so prioritize opponents at your level or higher. Boss defeats appear in the XP feed as well. The Fell Thunderbrute—the first Elixir Well boss in the Springlands—yields the message “Enemy slain XP +150” when defeated. Afterward, the quest advances to “Destroy The Shroud Root”, taking you directly to the next quest reward.
