Final Fantasy Resonance gives you your first two Visions, Black Mage Tronn and White Mage Leah, in a hidden chamber under Rain’s house in the Town of Mitra during Chapter 1. You equip them from the Equipment & Abilities screen, one per character, and each one hands that character its own set of skills and passives in battle.
Quick answer: Once you finish the Earth Shrine, open the basement door in Rain’s house to obtain Tronn and Leah. Press K, choose a character, open the VISIONS slot, and select a Vision from EQUIPPABLE.
Where to get your first Visions
Visions arrive right after the Earth Shrine in Chapter 1, “Tailing the Truth” (the Earth Shrine walkthrough covers the route there). Once the party reaches the Town of Mitra, the objective changes to “Go to Rain’s house”. Rain’s house is the one with the blue roof. Step inside and the objective becomes “Investigate Rain’s house”.

Cross the room to its upper-left corner, where the arched wooden door sits immediately to the left of the bedroom wall, then press F. Lasswell says “This is the door.” The door swings open, and the game autosaves.

Continue north through the lengthy, unlit corridor until it ends at a chamber with a pair of Vision Crystals, one white and the other purple. A voice identifies their power: “The power of the Crystals captures these thoughts, and manifests them as warriors from distant worlds–as “visions.””

Two introduction cards follow. The first is “White Mage Leah”, described as “A mage who commands white magic, providing healing and succor.”

The second is “Black Mage Tronn”, described as “A mage who commands black magic, unleashing devastatingly destructive power.”

A popup then reads “You obtained visions!” and lists Tronn x1 and Leah x1. You get both Visions here, so there’s no choice to agonize over. The objective switches to “Equip a vision,” and Rain chimes in with “Right. Let’s try equipping them.”

Equipping happens in one menu, and it works the same for Rain and Lasswell. The keys below are the PC keyboard defaults; the full list is in the Final Fantasy Resonance controls rundown.
The game’s Help (System Menu > Help) keeps a “Visions” page for later: “Visions are the crystallized essences of legendary heroes that grant you their strength. To harness a vision’s power, they must first be equipped. Try equipping one from the Equipment & Abilities screen in the Main Menu.” The MRP pages sit under “Strengthening Visions” in the same list.

Equipping Tronn on Rain immediately raises Rain’s max MP from 48 to 52, thanks to Tronn’s MP +10% passive.
A Vision that is already equipped is marked in the other character’s list. After Tronn goes on Rain, Lasswell’s EQUIPPABLE list shows a small Rain portrait badge on Tronn, so give Leah to Lasswell. That leaves the party with one attack caster and one healer.

Equip Leah on Lasswell the same way. His VISIONS slot then reads Leah, and his panel shows MR 0 with Next Rank 10 MRP.

After both are slotted, the “Equipping Visions” tutorial (page 2/2) spells out the idea:
Equipping a vision allows you to use their skills in battle. White Mage Leah grants healing skills, while Black Mage Tronn grants offensive magic. Try combining their strengths to gain the upper hand in battle.

What Visions do in battle
Every Vision has the same building blocks, all visible in Vision Details (press R in the EQUIPPABLE list):
- A ROLE, such as Breaker or Medic
- ELEMENT icons
- A RESONANCE skill
- An Awakening Level list of skills and passives grouped under 0, 1, 2 and 3 stars
- A Mastery Bonuses list running from MR 1 to MR 9
Vision Details splits these across two tabs, Awakening Level and Mastery Bonuses, and you switch between them with Q and E. Both Tronn and Leah start at 0 stars.
Black Mage Tronn: skills and passives
Tronn is a Breaker with Fire, Ice and Lightning elements. His Resonance skill is Hibernal Fury: “Deal Ice magic damage to random enemies 5 times.”
| Awakening Level | Status | Skills and passives |
|---|---|---|
| 0 stars | Usable now | Fire, Blizzard, Thunder, Blind, Stagger Power +30%, MP +10% |
| 1 star | Locked | Fira, Blizzara, Thundara, Poison, Victor’s Respite |
| 2 stars | Locked | Firaga, Blizzaga, Thundaga, Dispel, Deshell on Stagger, Speed +10% |
| 3 stars | Locked | Bio, Confuse, and more |
Fire’s tooltip reads “[Black Magic] Deal Fire magic damage.” Tronn’s Stagger Power +30% feeds directly into the game’s stagger system, and several of his Mastery Bonuses key off staggering enemies too.

| Rank | Tronn Mastery Bonus | AP cost |
|---|---|---|
| MR 1 | Restore MP on Stagger | 20 |
| MR 2 | Speed+5 | Permanent |
| MR 3 | Fill LB on Stagger | 20 |
| MR 4 | AP+8 | Permanent |
| MR 5 | Focus Magic | 10 |
| MR 6 | MP+20 | Permanent |
| MR 7 | Stagger Power +20% | 40 |
| MR 8 | Magic+15 | Permanent |
| MR 9 | Half MP Cost | 50 |
| MR 9 | AP+8 | Permanent |
Restore MP on Stagger, Tronn’s first bonus, “Restores 5% of max MP upon staggering an enemy.”

White Mage Leah: skills and passives
Leah is a Medic with two element icons. Her Resonance skill is Healing Wind: “Heal all allies and cast Regen on them. Heal effect can exceed max HP.”
| Awakening Level | Status | Skills and passives |
|---|---|---|
| 0 stars | Usable now | Cure, Shell, Libra, Banish, Healing Magic +30%, Nullify Charm |
| 1 star | Locked | Cura, Shellga, Esuna, Banishra, Magic Defense +20%, Nullify Poison |
| 2 stars | Locked | Curaga, Raise, Banishga, Protect at Half HP, Haste at Half HP |
| 3 stars | Locked | Reraise |
A few of her tooltips, word for word:
- Cure: “[White Magic] Restore a small amount of HP.”
- Shell: “[White Magic] Increase magic defense of an ally.”
- Nullify Poison: “Prevents Poison.”
- Reraise: “[White Magic] Automatically grant Raise when KO’d.”

| Rank | Leah Mastery Bonus | AP cost |
|---|---|---|
| MR 1 | First Aid | 10 |
| MR 2 | Spirit+5 | Permanent |
| MR 3 | Healing Magic +10% | 20 |
| MR 4 | AP+8 | Permanent |
| MR 5 | Pass the Torch | 30 |
| MR 6 | MP+20 | Permanent |
| MR 7 | Pharmacology | 30 |
| MR 8 | Spirit+15 | Permanent |
| MR 9 | Auto-Cure Ailments | 40 |
| MR 9 | AP+8 | Permanent |

Ability slots and AP costs
In both Vision Mastery Bonuses lists, the number beside every bonus that is not marked Permanent (10, 20, 30, 40 or 50) is that ability’s AP cost, and the in-game tutorial confirms it with the line “each ability has a cost”. The Permanent entries are flat stat increases, such as Speed+5 or MP+20. Below the VISIONS slot, the Equipment & Abilities screen has eight ABILITIES slots and an AP counter that reads AP 0/100 before you equip anything, and while the Vision sits at MR 0 those slots show “Nothing to Equip”. What AP and the other stats do is covered in a separate guide.

The first time a Vision reaches MR 1, an “Equipping Abilities” tutorial opens over the MASTERY RANK UP screen. Page 1/2 reads: “Abilities gained from increasing a vision’s MR must be equipped in order to use them. Note that each ability has a cost, limiting the total number of abilities you can equip. Increasing a vision’s MR will earn you more AP, allowing you to equip more abilities.”
That means a Mastery Bonus ability does nothing until you put it in an ABILITIES slot, and each one you slot takes AP from the pool. The extra AP comes from the AP+8 ranks, which sit at MR 4 and MR 9 on both Tronn and Leah. The tutorial’s picture shows a single EQUIPPABLE list holding abilities from both Visions: Tronn’s Restore MP on Stagger (20) and Fill LB on Stagger (20), plus Leah’s First Aid (10).

Page 2/2, titled “Abilities of Equipped Visions”, reads: “Abilities possessed by a vision you currently have equipped will go into effect without having to equip the ability itself. Consider which abilities best complement the abilities of your equipped vision and discover effective combinations.” Your equipped Vision’s own abilities already work, so the AP you spend in the ABILITIES slots is for abilities that add to it.

What is MRP and Mastery Rank in Final Fantasy Resonance
MRP stands for Mastery Points, and you earn them simply by fighting with a Vision equipped. The “Mastery Points (MRP)” tutorial, page 1/2, puts it this way: “Fight with a vision equipped, and you will gain Mastery Points (MRP). Obtain enough points and you can increase your Mastery Rank (MR), which represents the level of affinity between the vision and its wielder.” The illustration shows a GROWTH results screen announcing “Mastery Rank Up!”

Page 2/2, “Mastery Rank (MR),” covers the payoff: “As your Mastery Rank increases, you can gain a variety of bonuses from that vision. The more you use a certain vision, the more you will be able to draw out their unique traits. Consider which vision best complements each character, and develop your own ideal fighting style.” Its picture shows a MASTERY RANK UP screen for Leah reaching MR 1, with First Aid tagged New.

Tronn and Leah each have MR 0 initially, with Next Rank: 10 MRP. Each new rank opens the next entry in that Vision’s Mastery Bonuses table. The Expert difficulty description also says Expert battles “award more MRP”.
Don’t confuse the two progression tracks. Mastery Rank climbs through MRP earned in battle and unlocks Mastery Bonuses. Awakening Level is the star rating, and it gates the 1-, 2- and 3-star skill groups; the Magicite guide explains how to raise a Vision’s Awakening Level.
Where MRP shows after a battle
Besides the Equipment & Abilities screen (“Next Rank: 10 MRP”), MRP shows up on the results screens that follow every battle you win with a Vision equipped.
The BATTLE RESULT page lists “EXP Gained”, “Gil Obtained”, “MRP Gained” and “Items Obtained” in that order, with a blue crystal icon next to the MRP Gained amount. Bonus labels can appear beside these rows, such as “No Damage Bonus” next to EXP Gained and “Stagger Finish Bonus” next to MRP Gained.

The following page is GROWTH, where each character’s level appears with the EXP remaining until the next level (“Next Lv: … EXP”). The equipped Vision’s icon is shown alongside its Mastery Rank and the MRP needed for its next rank, displayed as “MR 0” and “Next Lv: … MRP”.

GROWTH displays “Mastery Rank Up!” when a Vision advances in rank. Each Vision that ranked up then gets a MASTERY RANK UP page showing its new rank and Mastery Bonuses list. At MR 1, Tronn’s page highlights Restore MP on Stagger, shows its cost of 20, and tags it “New”.

Leah’s MASTERY RANK UP page comes next in the same results, with First Aid (cost 10) tagged “New” at MR 1. The first time you reach this screen, the “Equipping Abilities” tutorial described earlier pops up over it.

More Visions after Tronn and Leah
Tronn and Leah are the only two Visions at this point in Chapter 1, but the four locked “???” slots in the EQUIPPABLE list make it clear more are coming. The crystal chamber hints at where: “In sanctums scattered across the world, Vision Crystals lie in wait to be awakened.” It follows with “Seek them out… Visit the sanctums, command the power of thoughts…and stand defiant against the wills of destruction.”

Famous heroes from the series also show up as Visions, including Cecil’s Vision and Terra Branford. For now, once both Tronn and Leah are equipped, the objective updates to “Go to Grandshelt Castle”, and the story moves on with your new casters in tow.
