Sephiroth Vision title card for Final Fantasy Resonance

Sephiroth is the one Vision in Final Fantasy Resonance that you have to fight for. You get him by beating him in Whirlpool Hollow, a sanctum in the Kingdom of Grandshelt that opens later in the story.

Quick answer: Travel to Grandshelt’s Whirlpool Hollow, select “Accept the challenge”, then beat Sephiroth (Lv 45, 250,000 HP). This victory grants the Vision “Fallen Hero Sephiroth”.

Where to find Sephiroth

When you arrive, the game sets up the encounter with this line:

“One of these uncanny individuals, a hero no more, requests that you do battle with him.”

Progress the story until Whirlpool Hollow opens, then travel there in the Kingdom of Grandshelt. Whirlpool Hollow is one of the Sanctums of Light, and the only one with a fight; the challenge prompt appears once you are inside.
Choose “Accept the challenge” to start the fight. If you decline, the game tells you to “please return when you become stronger”, so you can leave, prepare and come back later.
Defeat Sephiroth. If your party falls, the game says you shall “return to the planet.”
After the win, Sephiroth joins you as a Vision. That is your confirmation that it worked: “Fallen Hero Sephiroth” is now one of your Visions.

Sephiroth’s weakness in each phase

Sephiroth’s weakness changes as the fight moves through its phases. Each elemental phase is weak to a different element, and the last phase flips to Light while absorbing Dark.

Tips for the Sephiroth fight

  • Bring party members and Visions that cover Water, Fire, Earth, Ice and Light, so every phase has an answer.
  • Hitting his weakness makes him pressured and easier to stagger.
  • His attacks hit harder while he is pressured, so keep your HP up.
  • Stop physical attacks while Masamune in Waiting is up, since he parries and counters them.
  • His magic defense is extremely high, so lean on physical attacks outside Masamune in Waiting and weakness hits.
  • Never use Dark in the last phase.
  • The last phase starts a countdown, so push your damage there.

What you get: the Sephiroth Vision

You earn the “Fallen Hero Sephiroth” Vision, a Commando who specializes in physical attacks. It joins your Visions list, and its awakening abilities include Boundless Void, Dark Surge, Jenova Cells, Meteor and One-Winged Angel.

At Mastery Rank 9, his bonus includes “Spirit of Sephiroth”, which “Activates all of Sephiroth’s Mastery Rank abilities.”
