Blood of Dawnwalker: How to Clear Blind Gorge Ancient Circle in The Silts

The daytime Astral Communion trial that seals you in with a Revenant Champion, plus every reward waiting in the chest.

The daytime Astral Communion trial that seals you in with a Revenant Champion, plus every reward waiting in the chest.

Blind Gorge is one of 13 Ancient Circles scattered across Vale Sangora in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and it sits in the southern stretch of The Silts. Like every circle, it is a short, self-contained arena fight that ends with a locked chest. The draw here is the skill manual inside it.

Quick answer: Reach the stone altar in southern The Silts during daylight, hold Focus and use Astral Communion to spend 1 Time Segment, then kill the Revenant Champion and every summoned minion to drop the red barrier and unlock the chest containing the Cycle of Ruin Manual and the Recipe for Mortal’s Blood Infusion.

What you need before the Blind Gorge altar will respond

Three conditions gate every Ancient Circle, and all three apply here. Miss any one of them and the altar simply will not start the trial.

RequirementDetail
Time of dayDaytime only. The altar cannot be communed with at night.
SkillAstral Communion, unlocked in the Witchcraft tree.
CostActivating the altar consumes 1 Time Segment.
InputHold the Focus button while looking at the glowing altar, then select Astral Communion.

Note: the Time Segment is spent the moment you commune, not when you win. Because the game runs on a clock, treat each Ancient Circle as a deliberate detour rather than something to sweep up between story beats.

Where the Blind Gorge Ancient Circle is in The Silts

The Silts holds three Ancient Circles in total. Blind Gorge is the one in the southern part of the region, marked on the world map by the standard Ancient Circle icon once you are close enough to reveal it. The site itself is a ring of standing stones around a single stone altar, with a fresco and a sealed chest set against the rock wall.

Approach on foot during the day and the altar will have a visible glow. There is no lock, lever, or prerequisite quest attached to the site — the only key is the Witchcraft skill.

Clearing the Revenant Champion fight

Travel to the circle in southern The Silts while the sun is up. Clear your current tracked objective out of the way first if you want the quest log to update cleanly, since the trial will take over the tracker when it begins.

Stand at the stone altar in the middle of the ring, hold Focus, and pick Astral Communion. A Time Segment is deducted and the quest log flashes a quest update for Ancient Circle: Blind Gorge.
A red barrier snaps up around the circle and seals Coen inside. You cannot leave, so fight with your back to the stones rather than trying to kite outward into the boundary lines.
Focus the summoned minions first. Undead adds keep spawning in waves throughout the fight, and letting them stack up is the main reason players get chipped down here.

Switch to the Revenant Champion once the arena is thinned out. It is the only enemy with a dedicated boss health bar, and it hits considerably harder than the trash around it.

Keep cycling between the boss and any fresh spawns until nothing is left standing. The whole encounter runs a few minutes at most for a reasonably levelled Coen.

How to confirm the trial is finished

Three things happen back to back the instant the last enemy dies. The red barrier dissolves and you regain free movement, the tracker shows a quest update followed by a quest ended prompt for Ancient Circle: Blind Gorge, and Coen calls out a line about it having been a worthy challenge. Once you see the barrier drop, the chest by the fresco is interactable.

If the chest is still sealed, an enemy is alive somewhere in the ring. That is the only reason it stays locked after the fight appears to be over.

Blind Gorge rewards and the Cycle of Ruin Manual

The skill manual is the headline reward. Loot the chest and sweep the bodies and containers around the site, since several extra pickups are scattered inside the ring rather than stored in the chest itself.

Manual drops are not fixed across every circle. Blind Gorge has also produced the Artery Strike Manual alongside the Sanguine Bladedancer’s Tunic, so what lands in your chest may differ from another playthrough. The Cycle of Ruin Manual itself is not exclusive to this site either — the Northwest Pass, The Wallows, and Tantari Vista circles can all hand it over too, which matters if you are chasing that specific skill and want the shortest route to it.

Weigh that against the clock before you commit. One Time Segment for a three-minute fight and a manual you might already own is a fair trade early on, but far less appealing once the story starts pressing.
