The Catacombs of Paris is an area of the City of Paris with its own map, divided into sub-areas such as the Catacomb Entrance, the Charnel Galleries and the Throat of Hell. You can save at 2 Mirrors of Life, in the Quarry Elevator and the Realm of Old Night. The Ferryman's Wharf is in the Collapsed Path of Orpheus.
Death is first met here in an intro fight at the Altar of Bones. Mammon waits in Mammon's Lair, and defeating him gives The Miser and Wheel of Chaos. The Realm of Old Night has the nearest Mirror of Life to both fights.
Chests hold the relics Ebony Claw in the Throat of Hell, Necro Charm in the Jaws of Limbo and Specter's Whisper in the Catacomb Entrance, plus Gungnir in the Collapsed Path of Orpheus. Pick up the Oozing Eye Keepsake in the Circle of Greed. Its door opens only with the Oozing Eye, Trembling Eye and Thrilling Eye equipped. The Trembling Eye comes from Mammon's altar in the Pillaged Tombs, and the Thrilling Eye from his altar in the Hospital. Look for 3 Brave Heart Fragments, 3 Wise Heart Fragments, 20 XP statues worth 200 XP each and 43 Secret Areas.
Exits lead to Paris Streets from the Catacomb Entrance and to Holy Innocents' Cemetery from the Antechamber of Sin. After beating Mammon, Rose takes the Ferryman's Obol; return it to the Ferryman for his Arcana The Whisperer and the spell Freezing Path. The clue Death Mark in the Charnel Galleries points to The Shadow. Expect skeleton archers, harpies and mermen.
