The Ebisu Idol is one of seven stone-carved Ancient Idols scattered across the floating island of Skycrest in Fisch, and its trial set is heavily weighted toward rare catches rather than combat. Five tasks stand between you and the reward, and four of them can be finished off-island using gear you probably already own. The fifth just needs patience and a boss fish.
Quick answer: Complete all five Ebisu tasks — one rare Anthias or Fairy Wrasse, one Sparkling Aphrodite Anthias or Rose-Veiled Fairy Wrasse, one rare mutation from appraisal, one opened Treasure Chest, and one fish worth over 100,000 C$ — then return to the Ebisu Idol and interact with it to claim the Idol Favor and Charms.
Ebisu Idol quest requirements and recommended setup
The five requirements appear on the Idol’s menu when you walk up to it and press the interact key. Nothing here is timed, so you can chip away at the list across sessions and turn everything in at once.

Catch the rare Anthias or Fairy Wrasse (Tasks 1 and 2)
The first two tasks share the same fishing spots, so treat them as one grind. Task 1 accepts any of four species, which makes it the easier half. Task 2 is narrower because it demands a Sparkling variant of one specific pair.
Tip: run both tasks in the same trip. Every cast that could produce a rare species can also produce its Sparkling version while the totems are active.
Roll a rare mutation through appraisal (Task 3)
This one is pure repetition. Appraising a caught fish can apply a mutation, and the trial only counts mutations in the rare tier, with Spirit being a common result players land on. There is no way to force a specific roll, so bank a stack of cheap fish and appraise them one after another until a rare mutation appears.
Because the mutation attaches at the moment of appraisal, it does not matter which species you use. Low-value catches work exactly as well as expensive ones for the purposes of the trial.
Open a Treasure Chest with maps from Forsaken Shores (Task 4)
Hunting chests at random wastes time. Jack Marrow at Forsaken Shores sells treasure maps, and each map points you to a chest location, turning a scavenger hunt into a short errand.
Catch a fish worth more than 100,000 C$ (Task 5)
Ordinary catches will not clear this threshold reliably, so target a boss fish instead. A Megalodon pulled during an Aurora Borealis event comfortably clears the bar, and a Shark Whistle gets you into that fight without waiting for a natural spawn.
Value scales with size, variant, and modifiers, so the same species can land anywhere on a wide price range. A Big Fabulous Ancient Megalodon, for example, is worth well past the requirement at 416,727 C$. Check the price tooltip in your inventory to confirm the catch cleared 100,000 C$ before you head back.
Turn in the quest and confirm it worked
Return to the Ebisu Idol on Skycrest and interact with it once every box is checked. The confirmation is immediate and visible in two places. Your Idol Level ticks up by one in the Idol Favor display, and the Charm menu shows the newly unlocked entries.
Ebisu’s rewards feed straight into the Skycrest progression loop. Charms such as Fortune, Rush, and Brawn slot into the Crest Amulet, which holds up to nine Charms at once as your Idol Favor level rises. Each Charm levels up when you catch fish in Skycrest, granting scaling bonuses to Luck, Control, Resilience, Max Weight, Lure Speed, and Progress Speed.
Why the Ebisu trial does not complete
Most stalled turn-ins come down to a task that looks finished but is not. A regular Aphrodite Anthias does not satisfy the Sparkling requirement, and a Sparkling catch does not retroactively cover the first task if you skipped it. A mutation below the rare tier will not register, no matter how many appraisals you run. Finding a chest without opening it leaves the fourth line unchecked. And a high-value fish only counts if its listed price passes 100,000 C$, which weight and variant modifiers determine.
If you are working through Skycrest broadly, the Ebisu set doubles as progress toward the wish system at the top of the island, since Ryusei asks for five completed trials from any single Ancient Idol. Clearing Ebisu therefore does two jobs at once, though the Nagomi Idol’s trials are the lighter option if speed is the only goal.
