The Ancient Idol Rod is the strangest reward tucked inside Skycrest, the floating island Fisch added on September 5, 2026. It is not sold, it is not wished for, and it is not sitting on a pedestal waiting to be bought. You earn it from Forgemaster Torin, and the price is a full sweep of the island’s seven stone idols plus a handful of giant fish.
Quick answer: Talk to Forgemaster Torin on Skycrest, then catch 5 Giant fish in Skycrest and unlock all 7 Ancient Idol Charms by finding and interacting with each idol statue on the island. Return to Torin and the rod is yours.
Ancient Idol Rod stats and passive
The numbers are mid-tier on paper. What makes the rod worth the errand is the infinite weight cap paired with a passive that can end a fight in one beat.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Lure Speed | 80% |
| Luck | 165% |
| Control | 0.3 |
| Resilience | 60% |
| Max KG | Infinite (infkg) |
| Passive | Idol’s Judgement |
The in-game description sets the tone: “Carved from a toppled idol. The stone still judges what you hook, and gifts or curses it accordingly.” That is a literal description of how the passive behaves.

Add to Google Preferences →How Idol’s Judgement works during the minigame
Idol’s Judgement fires while you are reeling and rolls one of two outcomes. Idol’s Curse slows your progress and makes the catch drag. Golden Blessing does the opposite, dumping a large chunk of progress in instantly and often ending the minigame on the spot.
There is no way to steer the roll, so treat it as a coin flip that either costs you a few seconds or saves you most of the fight. On a normal fish the swing barely matters. On something with an enormous health bar, a single Golden Blessing can collapse a catch that would otherwise take a long, careful reel.

Because Max KG is infinite, nothing is too heavy to hook. That combination is where the rod earns its keep on boss-tier catches like the Petrified Mossjaw at the Forgotten Temple and the Petrified Leviathan at The Sanctum.

Unlock requirements: Forgemaster Torin’s quest
Torin stands on Skycrest itself. Opening his dialogue adds “Forgemaster Torin: The Ancient Idol Rod” to your quest log with two objectives that track separately.
| Objective | What it means |
|---|---|
| Catch 5 Giant fish in Skycrest (5/5) | Any five Giant-size catches, pulled from Skycrest waters only |
| Unlock every Ancient Idol’s Charm (7/7) | Find and interact with all seven Ancient Idol statues on the island |
The giant fish half sorts itself out while you explore, since you will be casting around the island anyway. The charm half is the real task.
Where to find all seven Ancient Idol statues
The seven idols are Hayate, Ebisu, Fudo, Nagomi, Goriki, Shunsoku, and Amanojaku. Each one you complete grants a stat Charm, and the charm counter on the quest ticks up as you go. Two of them sit close enough together that you can grab both in one trip.

Note: Two extreme idol trials sit behind weather. The Titanic Charm and Flash Charm come from trials run during the Tropical Squall and Raging Squall events, so those require waiting for the right conditions.
Charms and the necklace slots
Charms are not just a quest counter. They slot into the Crest Amulet and give scaling bonuses to Luck, Control, Resilience, Max Weight, Lure Speed, and Progress Speed. Catching fish in Skycrest levels them up.
The available charms include Swiftness, Fortune, Endurance, Relaxation, Brawn, Rush, and Purity. How many you can equip at once is tied to Idol Favor, the Skycrest leveling system. At Idol Level 18 the amulet shows three available slots, and that number grows as favor rises, up to nine equipped charms at the top end.
How to confirm the rod unlocked
Both quest lines must read complete before Torin hands anything over. Check for “Catch 5 Giant fish in Skycrest (5/5)” and “Unlock every Ancient Idol’s Charm (7/7)” in the quest menu. If the charm counter is stuck below 7, an idol is still unvisited, most likely one of the floating-island pair or a squall-locked trial.
Once the rod is in your inventory, equip it and check the stat card. Lure Speed 80%, Luck 165%, Control 0.3, Resilience 60%, and Max KG listed as infkg confirm you have the right rod.

Judged purely on stats, the Ancient Idol Rod does not crack the top of anyone’s list. Judged on cost, it is one of the cheapest infinite-weight rods in the game right now, and the Golden Blessing roll turns heavy boss catches into short fights often enough to justify keeping it in the bag. Skycrest also runs on limited Fischfest content alongside its permanent additions, so the idol trials are worth clearing sooner rather than later.
