Quick answer: The Crane Bell at Thieves’ Camp is a crane statue with a bell. You’ll find it on the camp’s southern edge in Crimson Forest, across the long rope bridge beyond Jing Ye, the Outlaw.

This route takes you through Crimson Forest during Chapter 1 of the PC version of Phantom Blade Zero, with PATHBREAKER selected, the default difficulty.

Where the Thieves’ Camp bell is

In Crimson Forest, a long rope bridge leads to a ledge occupied by the Thieves’ Camp, a group of canvas tents and wooden huts. Look for the bell beneath a wooden canopy along the camp’s south edge; large drums, crates, and barrels surround it. Unlike the area’s wooden cross bells, this one is a Crane Bell: a bronze crane with a little bell dangling from its beak. The map pin reads “Thieves’ Camp”.

How to reach the Thieves’ Camp bell

Once Jing Ye, the Outlaw, is defeated, continue along the trail. You’ll reach a ledge with a fence, descend a short way to an overlook, then use the grapple anchor to reach a plank platform. A long bridge of planks, with rope railings, crosses the gorge from there to the camp.

Two Baishan Sect disciples are near the bridge’s far end: a hooded swordswoman and a girl wearing a blue hood. They’re peaceful, and speaking with them begins the tale Secrets of the Baishan (see the tales list). One disciple fears her senior sister is acting recklessly and asks you to save a junior sister stranded in a tunnel below a mountain lodge.

At the bridge’s end, step down onto the ledge and walk between the thick, rope-wrapped wooden posts. The Thieves’ Camp’s first huts lie straight ahead.

Enter the camp; there are no enemies to fight on arrival. As you move through, you’ll see huts and tents, as well as a scale suspended near the camp’s center.

Make for the south edge of the camp. Beneath the wooden shelter, locate the crane statue beside the large drums. Approach until the prompt appears, then press E.

The first time you rest here, a Crane Bell memory of Zuo Shang begins; it runs for about a minute and a half and needs no input. In a hall, Zuo Shang and Huangxing, a master of the Mandate, share drinks. Zuo Shang then proposes making Master Yuyin vanish in a joint operation, with a puppet called The Chord as Huangxing’s payment. The scene closes with the caption “Present Day”.

You’ll know the bell registered when the map opens on the new “Thieves’ Camp” pin. The region panel reads “CRIMSON FOREST” and “Map Completion : 11%”, up from 8% before you rang it.
