Luka purifying the water on a bridge in Olderion

“Purify the waters with Luka” is one of the story objectives in Chapter 3 of Final Fantasy Resonance, titled “Wardens of the Aquapolis”. After clearing the Cave of Waters and defeating Wave Lopros, return to Olderion, the Aquapolis, to trigger it. Luka, the Water Maiden, and Nichol, a Warden of the Waters, accompany you back into the city.

Quick answer: In Olderion, check these three locations sequentially: the bridge south-east of the central plaza, the north-east arm’s tip beside the orphanage, and the west corridor beyond the north plaza. Press F Check at all three.

Each location triggers a brief scene, without a fight or dialogue choice. Quest Updated appears and the game autosaves after every scene, so you cannot get them out of step. You must follow the set sequence: later spots won’t respond until you complete the previous one. Luka is not a playable party member for this objective; she appears only in its story scenes. After checking the third location, shop and rest before leaving the city, since Old Town prevents you from leaving until you defeat its boss.

How Purify the waters with Luka starts

Arriving back in Olderion triggers a scene at the plaza. Nichol opens with “Luka, let us begin the purification immediately.” Rain asks, “How can we spot the corrupted areas? The water looks clean to me.” Nichol explains, “There are three different areas crucial to the flow of the water in the city. I surveyed them before I left for the Cave of Waters.” He follows up with “Let us survey these points one by one.”

Quest Updated displays “Purify the waters with Luka,” and an autosave follows. To make an additional manual save, see the guide to how to save in Final Fantasy Resonance.

As you approach, each location appears on the mini-map. The inn and item shop are both on the way if you want to stock up first. Staying at the inn overnight costs 100 Gil, and you’ll find a save point inside. See the Olderion shops guide for stock and prices.

Spot 1: The bridge south-east of the central plaza

From the inn on the south street, head north-east along the road to the large, circular central plaza. Follow the plaza’s eastern side, then take the south-eastbound street from its north-east corner. The first spot is a short way down that street, roughly 90 m from the inn. Stand at the bridge and press F Check. Luka says, “I shall begin the purification immediately.”

She sings, then stops with “…What’s this?” and “It appears the water cannot be completely cleansed with my song.” Nichol backs her up: “She is right. There are still impurities left in the water.” The caption “Luka has purified the corruption…” appears on screen.

Luka finds the water will not fully clear.

Fina then asks Luka about her family. Luka answers, “Yes. My mother passed on this power and the responsibilities that come with it to me. So it is my duty to bear them.” Her mother “succumbed to illness several years ago”, and her father “passed away long before some of my oldest memories.”

Rain closes the scene with “The water is still corrupted in some places, right? We should go look for them.” Quest Updated and Autosaving follow.

Spot 2: The tip of the north-east arm

Head back up to the north-east corner of the central plaza and walk north along the long street to the north plaza, the square with a six-sided pillar in the middle. From there, follow the long arm that runs north-east all the way to its tip, next to the orphanage and a gondola landing. That’s about 110 m from spot 1. Press F Check, and Luka says, “The water here needs to be purified.” She performs the purification at the canal steps.

The caption appears again, and Luka admits, “It is not completely cleansed…but this shall have to do for the time being.” She’s exhausted (“Huff… Huff…”), and Rain says, “Fina, you should probably stay with Luka.” The two talk while Luka rests, and she mentions, “I’ve never set foot outside of Olderion”.

Luka out of breath: Huff... Huff...
Luka tires after the second spot.

When Nichol checks on her, she replies, “Well rested, Brother.” Quest Updated and Autosaving follow.

Luka: Well rested, Brother.
Luka answers Nichol after resting.

Spot 3: The west corridor

Walk back down the north-east arm to the north plaza and turn west into the long west corridor. The last spot is about 35 m along it, roughly 90 m from spot 2. Press F Check, and Luka says, “Give me a moment, and I shall have this purified.” The purification caption plays once more.

El, a Warden of the Waters and Nichol’s brother, shows up next. “Monsters appeared in Old Town… The soldiers and I vanquished them, but the corruption is spreading.” He asks to come along, and Nichol tells him to stay and guard the city.

El: Monsters appeared in Old Town
El brings news from Old Town.

An Olderion Soldier then runs in shouting, “Monsters are back in Old Town! And this time, it’s a huge pack of them!” He adds, “Arsha is helping the residents evacuate. But it’s still dangerous there.”

A soldier reports the monsters are back.

Rain offers to help, and El turns him down flat with “Stay out of our business. We don’t need any help from outsiders.” Lid pushes back, “How can you say that when your own wife is in danger?” El’s reply, “That’s exactly why. I need to be the one to protect her.” confirms that Arsha is his wife.

El: That's exactly why. I need to be the one to protect her.
El refuses help to protect Arsha.

Nichol ends it with “We should head to Old Town as well!” Quest Updated shows the new objective, “Go to Old Town, Olderion”, and the game autosaves.

Does Luka join the party?

No. Luka appears only during the scenes at the locations; there is no “joined the party” message, and your lineup remains unchanged. You don’t need to alter anything in the party menu.

What comes next: Old Town

Old Town’s gate sits at the far west end of the same west corridor, about 38 m past spot 3. The banner there reads “Old Town, Olderion” with “Recommended Level 21”. Right before the gate, a message warns that you can’t come back until the event in Old Town is done, and that the autosave stays at the point before you enter. Restock and rest at the inn before you go through.

The fight ahead is covered in the Old Town walkthrough. For the rest of the city, see the Olderion walkthrough, and every chapter is collected in the Final Fantasy Resonance walkthrough hub.
