Olderion, the Aquapolis is the Olderion Federation’s canal hub and the first town you visit in Chapter 3, “Wardens of the Aquapolis”, in Final Fantasy Resonance. The opening task, “Gather information in Olderion”, sends you to several people around the city. This route covers the launch version on Normal difficulty with Rain, Lasswell, Fina and Lid, all at level 19.
Quick answer: Visit both townsfolk marked by a yellow “!”: the soldier at the central plaza’s north edge and the youth on the north plaza’s west side. Afterward, seek Nichol at the north-west canal pier.
You can talk to the two townsfolk in either order. Once you’ve spoken to both, the objective changes to “Talk to the Warden of the Waters”, and Nichol’s scene sets the next one, “Go to the Cave of Waters”. This stretch of the story has no dialogue choices. A night at the inn costs 100 Gil, and the only save point in town is inside the inn.
| Step | Where | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Arrive | South entrance plaza | Objective “Gather information in Olderion” |
| Save | Inn, on the street west of the arrival plaza | Stay costs 100 Gil; save point inside |
| Townsperson 1 | Olderion Soldier, north edge of the central plaza | Explains the Wardens of the Waters; objective text unchanged |
| Townsperson 2 | Youth, west side of the north plaza | The barrier is explained, and your objective is “Talk to the Warden of the Waters” |
| Nichol | Canal pier in the north-west of the city | Objective “Go to the Cave of Waters” |
How to get to Olderion after the airship crash
Chapter 3 opens with Lid’s airship going down. If you need a refresher on how Chapter 2 ends and how the chapters break down, that’s the lead-in. You wake on a beach on the Olderion Federation’s World Map with the objective “Go to Olderion, the aquapolis”.
From the beach, follow the road north toward Olderion, then go north-east to the gate below the “Olderion, the Aquapolis” banner. Press F Proceed to go through. For the fastest trip, ride the chocobo (R). A popup appears here as well: “You can now travel to Olderion from Grandport and the pier near Dilmagia. Board the ship if you wish to sail between the different continents.”

Random battles on this road are all level 18.
| Enemy | HP | Weak to | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basilisk | 2,000 | Ice | Petrify attacks; drops Mist Potion |
| Mu | 500 | Earth | Berserk attacks; drops Mist Potion |
| Sorcerer | 2,000 | Earth | Drops Ether |
| Mini Gil Snapper | 1,500 | Ice | Rare; counters physical attacks; 1,500 gil |
The Basilisk, Mu and Sorcerer have no resistances. The Mini Gil Snapper halves Earth, Fire, Light, Thunder, Water and Wind and has high magic defense, but it awards a large amount of gil. The full enemies list covers everything else in the region.

The arrival scene opens with Rain: “So this is Olderion, the aquapolis.” Fina follows with “Wow… Look at how clear the water is!” Lid wants to go sightseeing, and Lasswell agrees the party can relax a bit, procure supplies and gather intel.
The objective “Gather information in Olderion” then appears in the top left of the screen while you stand in the arrival plaza.

Fina and Lid head off together, leaving Lasswell to say “…Well Rain, it appears we’re going to be gathering intel on our own.”

Olderion inn, save point and gondola
The small arrival plaza has a Tablet Shard on the gondola pier along its east side. A Sailor waits on that pier and pitches you a ride: “This is the only city in the world you can navigate by boat, you know. So how about taking a ride?”

His gondola has two stops, Inn Entrance and Towards Old Town.

To walk to the inn instead, take the street running west from the arrival plaza. The inn is on its north side. Press F at the door, walk in and talk to the innkeeper at the counter, who greets you with “Smell that? That’s from the incense made from the flowers that grow in this city.”
A night at the inn costs 100 Gil and restores the party.

Olderion’s streets have no save point. The only one is the glowing circle inside this inn room, so save here before you go on.

Keep walking to the west end of the same street for a chest on the pier. It holds a Jeweled Ring, described as “Prevents Petrify and Paralysis.”

Back outside the inn, the Spirited Girl runs a jump rope minigame and brags, “You saw that, right? We’re pretty good at jumping rope, huh?” The jump rope rewards are worth a look if you want to play.

Olderion shops
The item, weapon, and armor and accessories shops all use the same entrance in the south-east yard. From the arrival plaza, take the long road east to reach it.

Hi-Potions cost 800 Gil and Ethers cost 500 Gil. Every character gets new weapons here, priced from 4,500 to 5,500 Gil. The full price list is on the Olderion shops page.
Townsperson 1: The soldier in the central plaza
Take the diagonal street from outside the inn uphill to the north-east; it leads to the large, round central plaza. Pick up the Tablet Shard on the plaza’s north-west side.

Then find the Olderion Soldier marked with a yellow “!” at its north edge.

He explains the city’s defenses: “The waters that flow through Olderion have a special property that protects the aquapolis.” “Thanks to that, we have no need to fear attack by monsters.” “That’s the power of the Wardens of the Waters! It’s not something that can be easily replicated.” Lasswell asks “Where exactly are these Wardens?” and the soldier replies “I saw one by the canal in the northwest of the city just a bit ago.”

The game autosaves after this conversation. The objective still reads “Gather information in Olderion”, and it stays that way until you’ve talked to both townsfolk.
Townsperson 2: The youth in the north plaza
A northbound passage connects the central plaza to the north plaza. Pick up the two items in the north plaza.

- A Tablet Shard under the tree in the middle of the north plaza.
- A chest on the plaza’s east side with the Rock Piercer, a bow with 118 physical attack (“Increases physical attack by 10%.”).

The Youth with the yellow “!” stands on the west side of the north plaza. He asks “You wanna know how to get to the Water Shrine?” and then explains the problem: “You can get there, sure, but there’s no way you’re getting inside. The Wardens of the Waters have put up a protective barrier.” He adds “They’re a clan of people who protect the pure waters of Olderion.” Lasswell concludes “Looks like we’ll have to meet with these Wardens.”

Find Nichol, the Warden of the Waters
From the north plaza, take the long passage west to the city’s west block. A short path runs north from that passage to a canal pier, where Nichol is waiting; approach the pier from the north.
Rain opens with “Hey, are you one of those Wardens of the Waters?” Nichol answers “Yes, that I am, but…” and then “You’re knights from Grandshelt, I see.” After Rain and Lasswell introduce themselves, he says “My name is Nichol. I am both a strategist in Olderion’s military and a Warden of the Waters.”

Rain explains they’re trying to reach the Water Shrine and warns him about the Sworn Six. Nichol isn’t worried: “But you need not worry. They cannot circumvent the barrier protecting the Water Shrine.” When Rain tells him they broke through the barrier at the shrine in Grandshelt, he reacts with “The Earth Shrine barrier…broken?”
A soldier then arrives to report monsters at the Cave of Waters, and Nichol leaves. Rain and Lasswell regroup with Fina and Lid, and Fina says “Well, then, let’s help them!” Lasswell sets the course: “So our plan is decided, then. Nichol was headed to the Cave of Waters, so that should be our next destination. From what I’ve heard, it’s located to the northeast.”

The game then autosaves and the objective updates to “Go to the Cave of Waters”. Speaking to Nichol before you have talked to both townsfolk only gets you a brief chat; it won’t trigger the scene.
What else is in Olderion
Two more finds sit in the north-east of the city. The fourth Tablet Shard in town is on the higher walkway that runs north-east from the central plaza, and a third chest at the north tip of the round north-east terrace holds the Mirage Robe (“Adds a 15% chance of evading magic attacks.”). While the objective is still “Gather information in Olderion”, Fina and Lid can be found chatting on that same terrace.
The Ruby Cave south-west of the city, outside its walls, is where the search for Carbuncle begins. For other finds, use the Tablet Shard locations and chest locations guides.
Next: The Cave of Waters
On the World Map, the Cave of Waters is north-east of Olderion and has a Recommended Level 20. Exit through the city gate, take the road east and then continue north.
The boss is Wave Lopros (Lv 20, 21,000 HP). It is weak to Ice, has no resistances and has the trait “Gains buff after consuming prey.” It is joined by an Azure Snapper (2,100 HP, weak to Thunder) and a Land Snapper (1,920 HP, weak to Wind), and it drops Water Scroll I. Before leaving, buy Ethers and Phoenix Downs from the Olderion item shop.
