The Stillwatch mission arrives near the end of Chapter 11 of Star Wars Zero Company, right after Palpatine issues Order 66. Trick’s inhibitor chip fires, the game hands you control of him, and the fight that follows is scripted to end only one way. Knowing the order of operations turns a long, punishing encounter into a short one.
Quick answer: Fire on Tel-Rea Vokoss as Trick to advance the mission, then wipe out the Stillwatch Battalion before you focus fire on Trick himself. Trick cannot be spared, and defeating him triggers the closing cutscene.
How the Stillwatch fight starts
Captain Corvo opens the mission by ordering the execution of the Republic traitors, and your objective reads “EXECUTE THE REPUBLIC TRAITORS.” You are controlling Trick at this point, not Hawks. There is no dialogue option, no movement trick, and no way to skip the turn out of it.

Two operators do most of the heavy lifting here. Tel-Rea’s Force kit repositions clones out of cover and hits clusters, while Cly’s Electroweb tools shut down whole groups before they can shoot back.
| Operator | Abilities that matter in Stillwatch |
|---|---|
| Tel-Rea Vokoss | Lightsaber Strike, Pull, Push IV, Shockwave II |
| Cly Kullervo | Electroweb Dart III, Electroweb Surge III |
| Tesh Hawks | Fire Blaster Rifle, Overwatch |
| Support items | Combat Stim III, Impact Bomb, Surgeon’s Tools |
Tip: Pull is the cheapest way to strip a clone out of hard cover. Drag the target into open ground, then let a blaster unit finish it on the same turn instead of trading shots against a cover bonus.
Clear the Stillwatch Battalion first
Trick has a large health pool but does comparatively little damage per shot. The battalion around him is the opposite, so every turn you spend chipping at Trick early is a turn the clones spend hitting your squad from cover. Thin the battalion out completely, then deal with him.

Focus fire on Trick
Once the battalion is gone, the fight becomes a straightforward damage race that you cannot lose easily. Trick keeps attacking every turn, so there is no benefit to waiting.

How to confirm the mission is complete
Dropping Trick ends the combat phase immediately and rolls straight into the closing cutscene. There is no cleanup step and no second wave after him. On the post-mission screen you may also see a “BOND TIER INCREASED” notification for operators who fought together during the encounter.
If the encounter is dragging on, the cause is almost always the same one. Either Trick is still standing while battalion units remain alive and keep re-engaging you, or your operators are attacking from open ground and losing the exchange each enemy turn.
Can Trick be saved in the Stillwatch mission?
No. Finishing Stillwatch without defeating Trick is not possible, and the workarounds players reach for all fail. Skipping turns after the battalion is dead just lets him keep attacking indefinitely. Melee attacks that leave him at minimal health do not trigger any alternate outcome. Reloading an earlier save and leaving him out of your chosen operators does not help either, since he joins the mission regardless.
Note: Trick does not die. Hawks brings him back to The Den, where M-3VO treats him in the medbay, and he rejoins the squad after you complete the Deep Cover critical mission, which becomes available roughly midway through the Back to Business chapter.
That gap covers only a handful of missions, so it does not put his bond progress or his crewmate missions out of reach. Treat Stillwatch as a fight to end quickly rather than one to solve, and the rest of the chapter proceeds normally.
