The Veil (Roblox): How to Get the Melee Mastery Oath

Valor takes a legendary melee weapon in the Coliseum, then 25,000 melee damage finishes the oath.

Valor takes a legendary melee weapon in the Coliseum, then 25,000 melee damage finishes the oath.

Legendary melee weapons in The Veil are dead weight until you swear the matching oath. Pick one up before that, equip it, swing it, and it simply refuses to work for you. The fix is the Melee Mastery oath, handed out by a single trainer in the Coliseum, and it costs you one legendary weapon plus a long damage grind.

Quick answer: Travel from the merchant landmark through the outer gate to the Coliseum, speak to Valor, the War Emperor, give him any legendary melee weapon, then deal 25,000 melee damage to finish the oath.

Melee Mastery requirements in The Veil

Everything the oath asks for is fixed. There is no level gate, no silver cost and no alignment requirement, but you do need to already own a legendary melee weapon before the trainer will talk business.

Melee is one of three schools, alongside casting and summoning, and each has its own trainer and its own oath. You only benefit from the school your endgame weapon belongs to, so do not start this one if your build leans on staffs or summons.

Route to the Coliseum from the merchant

Start at the merchant platform in the spawn town. This is the easiest landmark to route from, and it is where you should offload junk gear before a long run anyway.
Leave through the outer gate and into the Veil proper. The gate throws up the “A WORTHY ONE” prompt as you pass through it, which confirms you are on the right exit.

Follow the path and hug the right side. Stay against the right wall through the foggy stone corridors and you will come out at the mouth of the Coliseum, marked by the red glowing structures ahead.
Activate the waypoint at the arena entrance. That saves you the entire run when you come back to hand in the quest, which matters because the damage requirement is not something you finish in one trip.

Give Valor a legendary melee weapon

Climb the stairs along the edge of the arena and find Valor, the War Emperor, standing near the obelisk. He is the only NPC who grants the melee oath.
Equip a legendary melee weapon before you interact with him. Without one in hand the dialogue will not offer the quest at all, and this is the single most common reason players bounce off the trainer and assume he is bugged.
Hand the weapon over. Any legendary close-range weapon works, so a dagger, sword, greatsword or trident all satisfy him equally. It is gone once you give it up, so use the least valuable legendary melee drop you own rather than the one you plan to main.

Note: lock anything worth keeping before you go anywhere near the merchant or the trainer. Rarity colors in The Veil undersell some weapons, and players regularly sell good gear by accident.

How to deal 25,000 melee damage

Once the quest is active, the counter tracks damage you deal with melee weapons, including basic swings and weapon abilities. Casts and summon damage do not push it forward, so park the staff for the duration and commit to a close-range loadout.

The fastest way through it is volume rather than single big hits. Night hordes deep in the maze, the castle’s loot rooms and repeat kills on the same monster type all feed the counter quickly, and the bestiary bonus for killing the same enemy repeatedly stacks damage in your favor.

Keep potions on the hotbar while you farm. Sanity drains at night in the maze, and hitting zero kills you, which can cost you a prestige level on top of the wasted run.

Confirming the oath is done

The quest log tracks progress toward 25,000 as you fight, and completion registers on the kill that crosses the threshold. The real proof is functional. Equip a legendary melee weapon afterwards and it responds normally instead of refusing to answer you, which is exactly what it does before the oath is sworn.

If the counter is not moving, check three things. You need the quest actually accepted from Valor, you need to be hitting with a melee weapon rather than a cast or a summon, and the damage has to come from you, not a party member.

Reset Melee Mastery with Kharvos

Switching schools later is possible, but it is not free. Kharvos, The Dusk Swordsman, handles oath and class resets, and he sits on the second floor of the castle in the back-left room. Head up the stairs from the main hall and take the far left door.

The interior is not a safe zone, so hostile mobs in the hallways can and will drop you on the way up. Because a reset costs you resources and because you already burned a legendary weapon to swear the oath in the first place, the cheaper move is to decide which school your endgame weapon belongs to before you ever walk into the Coliseum.
