Fisch Skycrest Update Guide: Idol Favor and the Abaia Hunt

Everything the floating island adds, what Idol Favor gates, and the order to tackle it before Fischfest leaves.

Fisch’s Skycrest update landed on September 5, 2026, and it is built around a single number. Skycrest is a massive floating island added as a Fischfest expansion, and almost everything on it — charm slots, crystal placement, the new companion, the harder challenges — is locked behind a dedicated leveling system called Idol Favor. Some of the island is permanent. Some of it disappears when Fischfest ends.

Quick answer: Redeem the code SkycrestIsInTheSky, then grind Idol Favor before anything else. Without it you cannot open more Crest Amulet slots, safely place Sky Crystals, tame the Idol Taiga, or take on Master Hiroto’s higher-tier challenges.

Idol Favor: what the Skycrest level system unlocks

Idol Favor is separate from your normal Fisch level. It rises as you complete Skycrest content — idol trials, fishing in the area, side quests, and Master Hiroto’s timed challenges — and it acts as the key to the rest of the island. Treat it as a prerequisite, not a side objective.

Skycrest contentHow Idol Favor gates it
Crest Amulet charm slotsSlots unlock as your level rises, up to nine charms equipped at once
Sky Crystal placementA high enough level is required to safely place each crystal
Idol Taiga companionCannot be tamed until you reach the required Favor threshold
Master Hiroto’s challengesDifficulty scales with your current level, and rewards scale with it

Crest Amulet and stat charms

The Crest Amulet is the new equipment piece that holds your charms. At full progression it carries nine at the same time, so the endgame setup is about stacking bonuses rather than picking one effect. Charms themselves level up by catching fish in Skycrest, and their bonuses scale as they climb.

The stats charms can boost are Luck, Control, Resilience, Max Weight, Lure Speed, and Progress Speed. Because charm levels come from fishing in the new area specifically, the fastest route is to keep fishing on Skycrest while you work through everything else there.

The seven Ancient Idols and the extreme weather trials

Seven stone-carved Ancient Idols are spread across the island, and each one has its own trials. Clearing a trial rewards a dedicated stat charm. The idols are Hayate, Ebisu, Fudo, Nagomi, Goriki, Shunsoku, and Amanojaku.

Two of the rewards are not available under normal conditions. The extreme idol trials only run during the new Tropical Squall and Raging Squall weather events, and finishing them unlocks the Titanic Charm and the Flash Charm. If you are chasing a complete nine-slot amulet, you need to be on Skycrest and ready when those squalls roll in.

Sky Crystals and the Keeper of the Sky questline

The Keeper of the Sky asks you to recover 10 Sky Crystals scattered across the wider Fisch map, not just Skycrest. Known locations include Moosewood, Terrapin Island, Roslit Bay, and Snowcap Island, with the rest hidden elsewhere in the world. A GPS makes the round trip far less painful.

Equipping the GPS makes the cross-map hunt for the 10 Sky Crystals much faster.

Handing the crystals in restores Abaia’s Chamber and opens the initial gate, which is what sets up the Abaia encounter later. One catch trips up a lot of players: finding a crystal is not the same as being able to use it. Each one requires a sufficiently high Idol Favor level to place safely, so if a crystal will not go in, your Favor level is the reason and the fix is more Skycrest progression.

How to trigger the Abaia Hunt with the Fire of Spirits

The Fire of Spirits is the summoning mechanic for the update’s big encounter, and it only works during specific weather. It also doubles as a general buff for whoever is fishing nearby, so feeding it is rarely wasted effort.

Wait for a Tropical Squall on Skycrest. The Fire of Spirits only accepts sacrifices during this weather event, so plan your fishing sessions around it.
Sacrifice caught fish at the Fire of Spirits to expand the flame. A larger flame raises luck in the surrounding area and increases weather spawn rates, which in turn makes the next squall come around sooner.
Keep feeding it until the Abaia Hunt is summoned. This is a cumulative requirement, so a single big fish will not shortcut it.

Chase Abaia through the subterranean outer ponds beneath the island to strip away its barrier. The beast has to be pursued before it can be fought.
Enter Abaia’s Chamber and fight it, dodging its biting attack. This is an active combat encounter rather than a fishing minigame, so go in with your charms levelled and your gear sorted.

How to tame the Idol Taiga companion

Idol Taiga is the new companion, and it feeds directly back into the Skycrest grind. Once tamed, it boosts your charm effects, auto-sacrifices low-rarity catches, generates extra Idol Favor, and actively spears fish for you.

Fish at night for the four roaming firefly variants: Firefly, Loopy Five, Blue Ghost, and Gombak Bent-Winged. They double as high-tier bait, so extras are worth keeping.

All four firefly variants are nighttime-only spawns.
Push your Idol Favor to the required threshold. Taming will not work below it, no matter how many fireflies you are holding.
Use the fireflies during a Tropical Squall to tame Idol Taiga. The weather condition is mandatory here, the same as with the Fire of Spirits.

New rods, relics, Harpoon Gun and Spear

Skycrest is a gear update as much as a progression one. Five new fishing rods are unlockable, alongside two new pieces of equipment and two relics tied to the island’s content.

Skycrest NPCs: Elder Kaito, Master Hiroto, Ryusei and Frank

Four NPCs matter more than the rest, and two of them are on timers. The weekly refreshes mean the island is not a one-and-done visit, while the Fischfest-linked content has a hard expiry.

Beyond those four, more than 20 new side quests are available from locals around the island, several with unique rewards. The bestiary also gains new species, including a limited Fischfest section that will not stay once the event rotates out.

Skycrest code: SkycrestIsInTheSky

One new code shipped with the update. Enter it exactly as written, including capitalisation, since Fisch codes are case-sensitive.

SkycrestIsInTheSky

The developers flagged it as a launch-window code, so redeem it now rather than saving it. If it returns an error, the most likely causes are a typo in the casing or the code having already been claimed on your account.

What to do first before Fischfest ends

The permanent content will still be there next month. The Fischfest layer will not, which changes the order you should approach things in.

  • Redeem SkycrestIsInTheSky while it is live.
  • Clear Frank’s quest and Ryusei’s Sanctuary opportunity first, since both are limited-time.
  • Build Idol Favor and unlock charm slots, then level charms by fishing on Skycrest.
  • Work the Keeper of the Sky questline and place Sky Crystals as your Favor allows.
  • Use every Tropical Squall for the Fire of Spirits, the extreme idol trials, and the Abaia Hunt.
  • Check Elder Kaito’s stock and Master Hiroto’s challenges each week, and fill the limited bestiary section.

The practical loop looks like this: fish Skycrest constantly to feed charm levels and Idol Favor, drop everything when a squall starts, and pick up side quests as you pass the NPCs who give them. Skycrest rewards players who do several things at once, and it punishes anyone who saves the timed content for later.
