Raging Squall is the rarer of Skycrest’s two squall weather states in Fisch, and several island activities will not start without it. There are only two reliable ways to see it: roll for it by feeding the Fire of Spirits and cycling time, or skip the randomness entirely with a Raging Squall Totem earned from Pilgrim Sable.
Quick answer: Equip and activate a Raging Squall Totem to force the weather instantly, or fill the Fire of Spirits to 100% and burn Sundial Totems to cycle day and night until Raging Squall replaces a Tropical Squall roll.
Raging Squall requirements before you start
Both routes run through Skycrest, the floating island tied to the Fischfest expansion. It sits behind the Fischfest 2 island and is reached by swimming up a pair of waterfalls, though a Magic Mirror in Abaia’s Chamber gives you a shortcut on later trips.
| Route | What you need | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Fire of Spirits + Sundial Totem | Access to the chamber, a stock of fish or relics to offer, several Sundial Totems | Random chance per weather roll |
| Raging Squall Totem | Pilgrim Sable’s Idol Spirit questline completed | Guaranteed, one use only |

Add to Google Preferences →Method 1: Roll for Raging Squall with the Fire of Spirits
This is the free route, and it is a numbers game. The squall weather only rolls when the fire is topped up and the time of day flips, and Raging Squall shows up as a rare substitute for Tropical Squall rather than as its own separate event.

Note: Sundial Totems only move the clock. They do not summon an Ancestral Abaia Hunt on their own, and they are not a substitute for the dedicated weather totem when a hunt is what you are after.

Method 2: Force it with the Raging Squall Totem
The totem removes the dice roll completely. Activating it changes the weather to Raging Squall on the spot, which is why it is worth earning before you commit hours to Sundial spam.

Raging Squall Totems can also turn up in Kaito’s Weekly Shop rotation, but the questline reward is the dependable one-time route.
How to confirm Raging Squall is active
A weather banner appears across the screen when the state changes, naming the squall that has descended. If the announcement reads Tropical Squall instead, the roll did not upgrade and you need another cycle. Once the Raging Squall banner shows, the weather window has already begun and any content gated behind it is open.
Why the Raging Squall Totem fails to trigger
The restriction is narrow. You cannot use the totem while Raging Squall is already running — the item simply will not produce another weather change in that state.
Squall totems previously failed when a different weather condition was in effect. That was fixed in Update 2.0.2 on September 8, 2026, so outside the restriction above the item should behave normally on current versions.
What Raging Squall unlocks on Skycrest
The weather is not cosmetic. Ancestral Abaia Hunts require it, as do the Raging trials tied to Skycrest’s Ancient Idols, and it feeds into progress toward the Flash Charm through the extreme Idol trials that only run under squall conditions.
Because the totem is consumed on activation and cannot be traded, set everything else up first. Get your Sky Crystals and hunt prep sorted in Abaia’s Chamber, or line up the trial you intend to run, then trigger the weather and spend the whole window on the objective instead of scrambling for materials mid-storm.
