Enshrouded’s gold crafting chain has three stages: mine Gold Ore underwater, smelt it into Gold Bars, then grind those bars into Gold Dust. Each is a level 40 Common material with a stack limit of 250, and each serves a different branch of crafting.

Quick answer: Mine Gold Ore underwater with the Mining Sieve, which you get from the Blacksmith’s quest at Orville. Smelt it into Gold Bars in a Blast Furnace, then grind bars into Gold Dust in a Mill.

Get the Mining Sieve first

Gold deposits sit underwater, so you need the right tool before you can work them. The Mining Sieve is described in-game as “A hand scraper and sieve that can be used to mine gold and other materials underwater.” You pick it up through a Blacksmith quest rather than crafting it from scratch the first time.

Start the Blacksmith’s quest “A Tool For Underwater Mining” and travel to Orville in the Veilwater Basin.
Orville is overrun by Drak’Dal. Search the town for clues before moving on.
Head underwater to the shipwrecks close to Orville and search inside them for the Mining Sieve.

If you ever lose the tool or want a second one, the Blacksmith can craft it from 3 Steel Bars, 2 Palm Wood Logs, 1 Wax, and 2 Plant Fiber or Paper Reed.

Mine Gold Ore underwater

Gold Ore’s own description sets the scene: “The most tantalizing gold ore is often hidden beneath the water’s surface, but be careful when spotting a glint of golden light at the bottom of a stream. The gold rush may swallow you if the waves don’t.”

Scan the bottoms of streams and lakes for a gold glimmer.
Submerge, equip the Mining Sieve, and use it to mine the gold deposit.

Smelt Gold Ore into Gold Bars

Gold Bars are “Solid gold bars that serve as both a crafting material and a status symbol.”

Open your Blast Furnace; the Gold Bars recipe appears once you have picked up Gold Ore. Put in 40 Coal and 20 Gold Ore for 20 Gold Bars. Each batch takes 660 seconds. Archaic Shards can stand in for the Gold Ore in this recipe.

Grind Gold Bars into Gold Dust

Gold Dust is “Gold ground to powder. It sparkles even more beautifully than before.” You produce it at the Mill, and the recipe appears once you have Gold Bars on hand.

Each run takes 1 Gold Bars to make 1 Gold Dust, and each one takes 240 seconds.

Raising your Flame from level 8 to 9 takes 50 Gold Ore. Beyond that, the Drak Relief Showcase from the Bard and the Large Drak’Dal Door from the Carpenter each need 10.
