The Kolobos Ruins building in a rock alcove on the coast of the Felicitas island

Once you reach the Town of Felicitas in Chapter 1, “Tailing the Truth”, Emma runs off and your objective changes to “Go to the Kolobos Ruins”. The ruins are close to town, but the objective marker points you the wrong way. A river gorge cuts through the island, and the road around it loops to the west and back along the south coast.

Quick answer: Leave Felicitas, cross the stone bridge west by the waterfall pool, follow the road south to the signpost, take the beach road east, then head north into the rock alcove.

Kolobos Ruins location on the World Map

Press M to view the World Map, whose title is “Kingdom of Grandshelt”. Find the Kolobos Ruins cave symbol on Felicitas’s south-eastern peninsula, below the gorge that extends east from town. The field camera faces north from the south; north is at the top of the screen, west to the left, and east to the right.

The yellow objective circle (the “!” marker) sits north of the gorge, not on the ruins. Walking straight at it puts you on the wrong side of the river.

While exploring, the HUD maps R to Mount Chocobo, M to World Map, Z to Mini-Map, J to Quests, Q to Active Time Chat, and ESC to the System Menu. Movement can catch on ridges and cliff edges, so use the dirt roads whenever possible.

Before leaving Felicitas: Supplies and the Secrets Unearthed quest

Item shop supplies

The item shop is at the top of the wooden ramp on the north side of the square, under a lantern sign. The enemies between town and the ruins inflict Poison and Blind, so stock up on these two items. Every other price is in the Felicitas shops rundown.

Picking up Secrets Unearthed from Chloe

Chloe stands on the counter’s left, with a blue “!” above her head. Rain identifies her as Professor Chloe, a scholar employed by Grandshelt.

Speak with Chloe to learn that she studies crystals for the king and that Kolobos has more buried crystals than anywhere else in Grandshelt. She needs core samples from three locations and gives you gear that detects when you reach a sampling area and gathers the sample on its own. Pick them up as you go.

First, a “Secrets Unearthed” banner displays “QUEST ACCEPTED”; the “Tracking Quests” tutorial follows. The next update reads “Collect Kolobos core samples (0/3)” and offers a T Track Quest prompt, after which the game autosaves.

Press J, then select the Sub Quests tab to view the details. Secrets Unearthed appears under Field, with rewards of Magicite Shard x1, Monk’s Prayer Beads x1. Accepting it leaves your tracked main objective unchanged: “Go to the Kolobos Ruins” remains visible.

Route from Felicitas to the Kolobos Ruins

Go to the southern edge of Felicitas’s square and press F on “Proceed”. The transition places you in the field at the cave opening in the cliff.
Take the road downhill, heading south and then south-west. It ends at the pool beneath the waterfall below town.
Cross the small stone bridge beside the waterfall pool, heading west. Line up straight with the bridge deck before you step on, because approaching at an angle catches you on the edge.

Once across the bridge, head south on the dirt track to a wooden signpost at the junction, just above the beach.
