Quick answer: The Cliff of Longing bell is a red wooden cross on a cliff top above the bandit campfire in Crimson Forest. From the campfire, wall-run up two X-marked plank walls to reach it.

The climb and the bell below are shown on PATHBREAKER, the default difficulty; the campfire bandit fight notes come from WAYFARER.

Where the Cliff of Longing bell is

The bell is in Crimson Forest during Chapter 1, on a cliff top above the bandit campfire at the top of a long stone stairway. The spot is easy to recognize once you’re up there. Look for plank flooring, a big gnarled old tree, and red candles set around a red wooden cross. From the edge you can see down over the forest village and its big wooden houses. On this route, the Red Serpent House bell is the closest bell before it.

How to reach the Cliff of Longing bell

Start at the Red Serpent House bell, the one behind the gate the Forest Outpost Courtyard Key opens. Follow the road to the small cart bridge, then take the stone path up to a long plank road lined with wooden fences. Keep going uphill until you reach a plateau held by a Butcher and a pack of dogs.

From the plateau, climb the long stone stairway that runs up the hill. A ladder off the plateau leads down to a chest with Incense Ash if you want to grab it on the way.

At the top of the stairway, walk past the stone lantern. The bandit campfire is a short distance beyond it.

Find the weathered plank wall with a big X-shaped brace against the rock beside the campfire. Walk toward it until the “Space” prompt appears, then press Space to wall-run up. Go around the fire on the way: walking through its embers costs about 100 health.

You’ll land on a ledge facing a second X-marked plank wall. Press Space again to run up it and reach the cliff top.

Walk roughly 30 metres along the cliff top to the red wooden cross beside the big old tree. Stand next to it until the E prompt shows, then press E to ring the bell.

Dealing with the campfire bandits

Two sword bandits guard the campfire. One of them is a Flame-Crazed Bandit, who sets his blade on fire as soon as he spots you. A Butcher also roams the cliff edge next to the camp.

Pulling the group back toward the stone lantern won’t split them. All three follow you and keep attacking, and they only give up the chase once you head back down the stairway. On WAYFARER, the bandits can be beaten one at a time. Take out the other sword bandit first, then the Flame-Crazed Bandit. The Butcher stays out on the cliff edge, and you don’t have to fight him to reach the plank walls. The campfire’s east edge drops into a stake pit, and that is the way to the Cliffside Lodge bell.
