Batman Sprite Release Date in Fortnite (July 16, 2026)

The Batman Sprite arrives with the DC Summer update, and here is the exact go-live time plus how to grab it.

The Batman Sprite arrives with the DC Summer update, and here is the exact go-live time plus how to grab it.

The Batman Sprite lands in Fortnite as part of the DC Summer event, and it is not something you can catch early. Right now the Sprite sits as unreleased, so any offer to trade one to you before launch is fake. Here is when it goes live and what you need to do once servers are back up.

Quick answer: The Batman Sprite becomes catchable on Thursday, July 16, 2026, once the DC Summer update goes live at 4:00 AM PT / 7:00 AM ET. You confirm it is active when the update finishes downloading, servers reconnect, and the Batman Sprite appears in the Sprites menu instead of showing as unreleased.

Release time: July 16, 2026 at 4:00 AM PT (7:00 AM ET)

Batman Sprite release status

Status: Confirmed. The Batman Sprite releases on July 16, 2026 alongside the wider DC Summer event. Epic typically takes servers down for maintenance ahead of a major patch, then flips everything on at the same global moment. Treat any time later than 4:00 AM PT as an estimate if downtime runs long.

How to catch the Batman Sprite once it drops

After the July 16 update installs and servers reconnect, the Batman Sprite collects the same way as other Sprites. There is no trade route to it before launch, so you have to find it in a match.

Install the July 16 update and load into a match once servers are back online. The Sprite will only appear once the patch is live.
Open Sprite Chests during the match to find the Batman Sprite on your own. This is the more reliable, subtle route if you just want it added to your collection.
To get a leveled-up version, defeat an enemy player who is carrying it. Eliminations are the path to a higher-level Sprite rather than a base pickup.

You know it worked when the Batman Sprite shows up in your Collection under the Sprites tab, no longer marked as unreleased.

Batman Sprite variants

The Batman Sprite ships with a set of collectible variants. The Holofoil treatment is a new variant type that enters the game a week ahead of the event, on July 9, 2026, while the rest of the Batman Sprite lineup unlocks with the July 16 update.

What else arrives with the DC Summer event

The Batman Sprite headlines a broader DC drop landing the same day. Beach-themed outfits and other DC cosmetics arrive in the Item Shop, so have your V-Bucks ready before the update goes live. The Air Sprite from Chapter 6 also returns on July 16, giving speed, extra jump height, and no fall damage.

How the DC cosmetics are distributed is not fully confirmed. They could appear in the Item Shop, be earned through quests, or ship as a paid bundle, and no prices have been attached yet. The dates, however, line up across the early marketing, so July 16 is the day to mark down for the Batman Sprite and the rest of the DC Summer lineup.
