Shadow is a Secret-tier unit in Anime Expeditions, the tower defense title that lets you summon anime-inspired fighters and place them against enemy waves. Modeled on Megumi Fushiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen, Shadow arrived when the game officially released on July 17, 2026, and it sits among the strongest late-game picks because its summoned spirits keep fighting on their own.
Quick answer: Reach EXP level 10, go to the Summon area, and reroll the Standard Banner for 50 Gems per pull. Shadow has a 0.01% drop chance. After you own it, evolve it into Shadow (Divine) using 20 Blue Sprites, 20 Green Sprites, 20 Red Sprites, 3 Rainbow Sprites, and 10,000 Gold.

Requirements before Shadow can drop
Two conditions gate the roll. Shadow only appears on the Standard Banner, and the Secret slot stays locked until your account hits experience level 10. If you have not reached that level, the Secret slot shows as locked and no Secret pull can land, so play through Story mode to level up first.

You know it worked when Shadow appears in your unit inventory as a Secret-tier character. If the Secret slot still reads as locked, your account has not reached level 10 yet, so return to Story mode and level up before rerolling again.
Evolve Shadow into Shadow (Divine)
The base unit only unlocks its full kit after evolution. Gather the materials below, then complete the evolution at the relevant menu to convert Shadow into Shadow (Divine). Sprites come from daily and weekly challenges, events, and Beginner Path rewards, and Grey Sprites can be converted into any colored version if you fall short.
| Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Blue Sprite | 20 |
| Green Sprite | 20 |
| Red Sprite | 20 |
| Rainbow Sprite | 3 |
| Gold | 10,000 |
Once the materials are spent, the unit becomes Shadow (Divine) and its passive abilities go live on the battlefield.

Shadow (Divine) abilities
The Divine form leans on summoned spirits that fight on their own plus a map-wide control effect. Its damage climbs as you upgrade Shadow during a match, and the summons carry their own value on the track.
| Ability | Effect |
|---|---|
| Wolf Spirit | Unlocks at Upgrade 5 and summons a Wolf Spirit at the unit’s location. It works as a separate unit and can be upgraded independently. |
| Shadow Realm | Turns the map into the Shadow Realm. Enemies within 50% of the unit’s range are hit by Shadow Rewind (max twice per enemy), and all Magical units gain a 25% damage boost for 30 seconds. It has a 60-second cooldown. |
| Divine Spirit | Summons a Divine Spirit and stuns the user for 15 seconds. The spirit deals 100% of the unit’s base damage and stays permanently, since it cannot despawn, be defeated, or be stunned. |
Note: Shadow’s ceiling rises sharply with the rare Unbound trait, which lifts stat caps and pushes its buffs onto the summoned spirits. That trait rolls at just 0.1% from the reroll pool and is entirely separate from the summon grind, so treat it as a bonus rather than a requirement.
Between the 0.01% pull and the Sprite cost, a fully evolved Shadow is a long-term goal, not an early pickup. Save your Gems for the Standard Banner, farm Sprites through repeatable challenges as you play, and the Divine form becomes a durable anchor for Story clears, raids, and infinite modes once everything lines up.
