Mountain Stream Grotto is a Lv. 29 cave dungeon in Palworld, sitting a full ten levels above the Ravine Grotto that precedes it. It rewards you with mid-game schematics, accessories, and the first real shot at rare Technical Manuals, all guarded by a rotating Alpha boss at the end. Come in around level 29 or higher, and bring healing plus a mount for the vertical rooms.
Quick answer: Find a Mountain Stream Grotto entrance in the Verdant Brook or Moonless Shore region, clear your way to the final chamber, defeat or capture the Alpha boss, then loot the two chests in the exit room and take the portal out.
Where Mountain Stream Grotto spawns
The grotto only appears in the Verdant Brook and Moonless Shore areas of the central island. Entrances look like dark openings cut into cliff faces and mountain walls, usually framed by trees. Dungeons rotate between fixed spawn points, so an entrance you cleared earlier may not be there when you return. If you have a Leezpunk or Leezpunk Ignis, its Too Cool to be Seen partner skill flags nearby dungeons and makes the search far quicker.

Alpha bosses you can face
The final chamber holds a single Alpha boss, an oversized version of a regular Pal with more health and stronger attacks. Which one you get is random from the grotto’s pool. Alphas are worth capturing for battle use, and they drop rare items their normal counterparts do not.

Reroll the Alpha boss
If the Alpha that spawned is not the one you want, you can force a new roll. Run out of the boss room and back to the previous room so the boss despawns, then return. A different Alpha usually takes its place, though the same one can occasionally reappear. Repeat until you get the target Pal.
Regular Pals inside the grotto
Between the entrance and the boss room you will run into standard spawns in the low 20s. These are useful for topping up your Paldeck and for capturing spare mounts and workers.

Loot: schematics, accessories, and skill fruits
Chests are scattered through the cave, and two guaranteed chests of random rarity wait in the exit room after the boss. Rarity and contents are randomized, so carry Silver Keys for locked chests. This is also the earliest dungeon where higher-tier Technical Manuals can drop, alongside a steady stream of Gold Coins.

Beyond those, the grotto’s drop pool also includes weapon and armor blueprints across multiple quality tiers, such as Crossbow, Musket, Makeshift SMG, Makeshift Assault Rifle, Sword, Makeshift Shotgun, Pelt Armor, and the Feathered Hair Band. Higher-tier versions are far rarer than the base tier.

How to navigate to the boss room
There is no in-game map once you step inside, so you have to explore on foot. The layout is partly randomized, but a couple of reliable room patterns point you toward the Alpha.
The Flooded Room pattern is a fork where one path is clear and the other is blocked by water. The flooded path always leads to the boss room, while the clear path branches off to side rooms with Pals and sometimes chests. When you want the fastest route, take the water every time.
The Circular Room pattern is a round chamber with two or three exits. When you hit one of these, the boss room is almost always behind one of the choices, so check each exit in turn.
Farm materials while you clear it
Dungeons are dense with ore, and Mountain Stream Grotto is a strong early source of materials that are otherwise hard to reach at this level. Expect nodes of Paldium Fragments, Sulfur, and Quartz along the walls, plus Cavern Mushrooms and Lotus flowers on the ground. Mining as you move means one run gives you both loot and a crafting stockpile.
Finishing and leaving the dungeon
Beating or catching the Alpha boss opens the final chamber with two reward chests and a portal. Interact with the portal to teleport out, which confirms the clear. If you are under-leveled, you can back out at any point by inspecting the entrance and choosing Leave. And if you get lost deep inside, open the Settings menu and pick Respawn to jump back to a chosen point.
Note: Each dungeon runs on a 299-minute timer, roughly five hours, before it respawns. The countdown keeps ticking even while you are logged out, so grottos are constantly opening and closing. If one is sealed, hop to another spawn point rather than waiting it out.
