Where Winds Meet: How to Complete Moonveil Mountain Wandering Tales

Where to start each mountain-area hidden quest, the exact items to fetch, and the rewards you unlock for finishing them.

Where to start each mountain-area hidden quest, the exact items to fetch, and the rewards you unlock for finishing them.

Wandering Tales are hidden exploration quests scattered across the mountain trails around Heaven’s Pier and Moonveil Mountain. They never appear as golden markers, so you have to trigger them by talking to people, picking up items, and overhearing conversations as you walk. Once you know where each one begins, they are short and simple to close out.

Quick answer: Talk to the Wayfarer in the region first to reveal the map, then open your journal, go to Exploration, and check the Wandering Tales tab for the first clue. From there, follow the start location listed below for each mountain tale and complete the small task it gives you.

How Wandering Tales unlock on the mountain

You cannot pin these quests from the world map. The first step in any new area is finding the Wayfarer. Speaking to them unlocks that region’s map and drops the opening hints for its Wandering Tales into your journal.

After that, open your journal and look under the Exploration menu at the Wandering Tales tab. Each entry gives you a starting hint. Some tales do not need any menu at all. Walking close to two NPCs mid-conversation is enough to begin them, so keep your ears open as you move through the mountain paths.

True or False: Young Master

Head north of Heaven’s Pier into the Moonveil Mountain area. You will run into a scammer disguised to look exactly like your own character.
Interact with him and challenge him to a Gift of Gab battle, the word-based card game. Winning this duel comes down to good social play.
Once you win, the scammer flees and leaves his goons behind, so clear them out.
Later, find the same scammer in Harvestfall Village standing in front of the Honest Merchant. Confront him again to close the tale.

A Foolproof Plan

Go to West Heaven’s Pier and find Shu Shu’er on the hill west of the pier. He offers a treasure map in exchange for one jar of Parting Tears wine.
Grab a jar of Parting Tears nearby. Check the bench near the Lone Drinker or a crate down at the pier.
Hand the wine to Shu Shu’er. The map he gives you is a fake sketch, and he runs off west toward Blissful Retreat.
Follow the road west and you will find him near the bridge, cornered by masked soldiers. Step in to save him and the tale ends.

Abyss of Desire

Look behind the tavern in Heaven’s Pier for an NPC named Mu Bai sitting on the ground. He will only talk once you bring him wine.
For the first drink, pick up the Parting Tears from a bench south of him and hand it over.
He then asks for Parting Tears Reserve. Find it on the table at Yuan Tiantian’s food stall nearby and give it to him.
Finally he demands a Large Jar of Parting Tears. Head up the stairs to the brewery storage area and grab the large jar from under a shed. Give Mu Bai all three to finish.

The Dogs Know First

Teleport to the Brewery Backyard in Heaven’s Pier. A dog named Butter is barking at a cornered man.
Calm the dog with a Meaty Bone. You can find one near the entrance to Heaven’s Pier, on the ground beside the NPC Mu Bai.
Return to Butter and feed it the bone. The man runs off but drops a Mysterious Token (Dragon Crest Token: Yin) on a crate. Its description tells you to give it to Unfated Tian or Tang Bao.
Travel to Blissful Retreat, find Tang Bao at the entrance, and hand over the token to end the quest.

The Missing Funds

At West Heaven’s Pier, find the worried man standing near the pier and speak with him.
Follow the path ahead to spot Bandit Feifei crouched behind a fence with the stolen bundle.
Use your Celestial Seize skill to pull the bundle back from him. If he notices you, wait for him to reset and try the grab again.
Return the bag to its owner. This tale also rewards a Dragon Crest Token, which you will need for Cant of the Jianghu.

A Toast to Heroes

On Battlecrest Slope, west of the Northern Vow Ruins, find Grandpa Zhou weeping at a tea stall. He has lost his bag.
Climb the small hill to his right, where a group of snakes sits in the grass. Use Wind Sense to reveal the Old Man’s Bundle.
Use Celestial Seize (earned from the Foul Play quest) to grab the bag safely from the snakes, then return the Soaked Bundle to Grandpa Zhou. His wine is broken, so he asks for two fresh jars of Sacrificial Wine.
Visit the two bandit camps north and south of the ruins and take the wine off the cart in each one. Meet Grandpa Zhou at the Northern Vow Ruins Boundary Stone and give him the wine to finish.

Cant of the Jianghu

Requirement: You must be carrying the Dragon Crest Token: Wind, which comes from completing The Missing Funds. Without it, the exchange will not trigger.

Go to the dock area in Blissful Retreat and look for a stall with a character labeled Strange Guest.
Speak to him about dragon scales and hand over the Dragon Crest Token. The quest completes instantly.

Well of Heaven Special Training

At West Heaven’s Pier, find the Well of Heaven runners near the pier. A prompt appears to join their training.
Run two full laps with the group while watching the chant timer.
Hit the prompt each time it reaches one second. Do this four times in total to finish the training and the tale.

How to confirm a tale is complete and rewards

A Wandering Tale is done the moment its journal entry moves to completed and the reward pop-up shows your payout. Most mountain tales pay in Echo Jades, Coins, and XP, with a few handing over items like a Dragon Crest Token that unlocks a later tale.

If a tale refuses to start or finish, it is almost always because a required item or skill is missing. Celestial Seize comes from the Foul Play quest and is needed for both A Toast to Heroes and The Missing Funds, while Cant of the Jianghu will not close without the Dragon Crest Token from The Missing Funds. Pick up the exact wine jar, bone, or token named for each tale before returning to the NPC, and the quest will register as complete.
