Notre-Dame is one of the areas inside Dracula’s Castle, and it is packed with things worth tracking down. Below is every Secret Area, breakable wall, chest, relic, weapon, Heart Fragment, ATK UP and DEF UP book, Mirror of Life, XP statue and piece of whole meat, broken down by sub-area in the order you reach them on the main path.
Quick answer: Notre-Dame has 31 Secret Areas and 9 breakable walls, plus 5 relics, 3 weapons found in the area, the Vampire Killer and Excalibur, 3 Brave and 3 Wise Heart Fragments, 4 ATK UP and 3 DEF UP books, 3 Mirrors of Life and 19 XP statues.
How secret areas open in Notre-Dame
The game’s own tutorial card for Secret Areas reads “Some secret areas are hidden behind walls. Look out for the visual and audio clues.” Four kinds of opening cover everything in Notre-Dame.
- Hidden passage: Rose can walk straight through this deceptive wall.
- Breakable wall: Strike the cracked section with your weapon to smash it.
- Lever gate: Pulling a lever opens the gate blocking the secret.
- Smash floor: Use Smash to shatter the floor; thicker sections require a longer fall first.
The Stomp tutorial reads “The Stomp has several power levels that activate depending on the distance travelled during the fall. If Rose jumps high enough, she can break thicker destructible objects!”
The relic Gloomstone reads “Gives a hint when Rose is close to a secret.” It is found in the Master’s Quarters, covered in the relics guide.
The map tutorial reads “Placing a MARKER on a secret or an unreachable location allows you to return to it later.” The marker button is Square on PlayStation and Space on PC.
Golden XP statues break after a few whip hits, and each one in Notre-Dame is worth 300 XP. Picking up whole meat restores all of Rose’s lost health. Four Brave Heart Fragments make one maximum-health upgrade and four Wise Heart Fragments one maximum-mana upgrade; ATK UP and DEF UP books add +1 ATK or +1 DEF for good.
