Enshrouded 1.0: How to Get Shroud Wood

Chop the dead grey trees inside the toxic fog, then glide or walk out before fast travel locks you in.

Shroud Wood is a crafting material you harvest from inside the Shroud, the toxic fog that blankets parts of Enshrouded. The dead, grey trees standing in that fog drop it when felled.

Quick answer: Step into the Shroud, chop a bare, leafless grey tree with an axe, and collect the fallen logs. The pickup reads Shroud Wood.

Where Shroud Wood comes from

The green trees outside the fog give Wood Logs, not Shroud Wood. Its item text describes the change: “The wood of Shroud infested trees. Its structure and properties are changed forever.”

Fast travel is blocked while you are inside the Shroud, so you cannot teleport out with your haul. Leave on foot or by gliding before the Shroud timer runs low.

How to harvest Shroud Wood

Find the boundary of a Shroud area, then cross into the fog. A Shroud timer shows up at the screen’s top as soon as you enter.
Look for a dead, grey, leafless tree inside the fog. These are the ones that hold Shroud Wood.
Equip an axe and use the “Cut tree” prompt to chop it down.

Once the tree falls, collect the logs on the ground. The pickup reads Shroud Wood.
Head back out of the Shroud on foot or by gliding. The map will tell you fast travel is not possible while you remain in the fog.
