Enshrouded 1.0: How to Get Gentian in the Albaneve Summits

Gentian is a mountain flower in Enshrouded that you gather by hand on the high slopes of the Albaneve Summits. Its item text reads, “A star-shaped blossom that blooms in the high-up mountains. It grants more mana when consumed.” You can eat it on its own, feed it into potions and food, or stockpile it for a Flame Altar upgrade.

Quick answer: Set the Albaneve Summits Ancient Spire as your fast-travel destination, then glide onto the slopes and interact with each Gentian plant. Each one yields 2 or 3.

Where to find wild Gentian

Almost all wild Gentian grows across the Albaneve Summits. A few plants also appear in Cinder’s Cradle and the Nomad Highlands. It does not drop from enemies, so picking it on the slopes is how you build your first stack. Gentian stacks to 100.

Choose the Ancient Spire in the Albaneve Summits as your map destination and fast travel there.

From the spire, glide down to the mountain slopes below.

Move along the slopes, interacting with each Gentian plant as you find it. The pickup notification appears on the screen’s left, and a plant yields 2 or 3.

Open your bag at any point to check how much Gentian you have gathered.

How to farm Gentian at your base

Once you own a single Gentian, you can grow a steady supply instead of climbing back up the mountain each time.

Build a Seedbed at your base.

Craft Gentian Seedlings at the Seedbed. The recipe is 1 Gentian and 1 Fertilised Farm Soil, which produces 5 seedlings in 180 seconds.

Plant the seedlings in farm soil, then harvest them once they have grown. Each grown plant gives 2 or 3 Gentian, the same as a wild one.

What Gentian is used for

Raising the Flame Altar from level 6 to 7 calls for 30 Gentian, alongside 30 Spark, 30 Wool, 30 Ice, 30 Granite, 30 Flammable Goo and 1 Fell Cyclops Head.

Potions at the Alchemist

Superior Health Potion takes 1 Gentian, 1 Honey, 1 Chamomile and 1 Shroud Vapor.
A Superior Mana Potion recipe uses 4 Gentian, along with 1 Shroud Vapor and 1 Moss.
Chain Heal II takes 5 Gentian, 4 Fossilized Bone Dust and 1 Chamomile, and makes 20.

Food and other crafting

Herbal Mountain Tea takes 5 Gentian and makes 5 (Kitchen).
At the Kitchen, prepare Yellow Glow Soup with 5 Gentian and 5 Chanterelle; the recipe yields 5.
The Kitchen recipe for Pumpkin Soup calls for 3 Gentian, 5 Pumpkin, 3 Frizzy Goat Milk and 3 Salt, and produces 5.
At the Collector, make Exceptional Ectoplasm Soup using 5 Gentian and 5 Exceptional Ectoplasm; one batch produces 5.
Wound Ointment takes 2 Gentian, 1 Antiseptic, 2 Chamomile and 1 Silver Dust (Laboratory).
