In Enshrouded, Steel Bars are a Common material at level 33 and feature in numerous crafting recipes. A regular smelter won’t make them; you’ll need a Blast Furnace. To unlock it, do the Blacksmith’s quest, which sends you to a dungeon in the Albaneve Summits for a part the furnace needs.

Quick answer: Smelt 20 Iron Ore and 40 Coal into 20 Steel Bars at the Blast Furnace in 600 seconds. Unlock the furnace by finishing the quest “A Blast Furnace For The Blacksmith” and bringing back the Bellows.

Get the Bellows from the Forge of Obsidia

To make the furnace recipe available, complete the quest “A Blast Furnace For The Blacksmith” and find the Bellows the Blacksmith requires. You can find it in the Forge of Obsidia, located in the Albaneve Summits.

Bring up the map, then use fast travel to reach the Ancient Spire in the Albaneve Summits.

Locate the Forge of Obsidia using your map. The quest objective is “Find The Forge”, and its marker leads directly to the location.

Fight through to the heart of the forge and defeat the Scavengers inside to clear the quest step “Defeat The Enemies Inside The Forge”. Pick up the Bellows once the way is clear, and the quest tells you to head home and build a Blast Furnace with it.

Craft and place the Blast Furnace

With the Bellows in your inventory, the Blacksmith can build the Blast Furnace. Open the Blacksmith and find the Blast Furnace entry to see the materials it needs.

To construct the Blast Furnace, gather 20 Fired Bricks, plus 1 Bellows, along with 10 Lump of Clay, 10 Iron Bars, and finally 30 Sand. You can use Fine Sand, Veilwater Basin Sand, or Cinder’s Cradle Sand for the Sand slot. After construction, set the furnace down at your base.

If you ever need another Bellows, the Blacksmith makes one from 10 Conifer Logs, 10 Leather, 5 Linen, and 1 Iron Bars.

Smelt Steel Bars at the Blast Furnace

The Steel Bars recipe appears at the furnace once you have picked up Iron Ore. Mine Iron Ore in the Kindlewastes and Coal in the Albaneve Summits before you start, since both go into the recipe.
