Enshrouded 1.0: How to Get the Coloring Station

Craft the dye factory at the Alchemist, produce palettes, and recolor your armor piece by piece.

Craft the dye factory at the Alchemist, produce palettes, and recolor your armor piece by piece.

The Coloring Station is a craftable base machine in Enshrouded that lets you make dyes and change the color of your armor. In the game’s own words, it is “A factory that enables the production of color palettes and colorizes your clothes.” You build it through the Alchemist once he is living at your base.

Quick answer: Save the Alchemist and settle him at your base. Once he is there, craft the Coloring Station from 8 Wood Planks, 10 Fired Bricks, 2 Metal Sheets and 2 Linen.

Craft the Coloring Station at the Alchemist

The recipe sits with the Alchemist, so he needs to be rescued and settled at your base before you can build anything. Once he is there, gather the four materials and talk to him to craft the station.

Rescue the Alchemist and bring him back to your base so he becomes available as a crafter.
Get the materials needed for construction: 8 Wood Planks, 10 Fired Bricks, 2 Metal Sheets and 2 Linen.
Open the Alchemist’s recipe list, then select the Coloring Station to craft it.
Set the station down at your base and use it. The interface has two options: Produce Color Palettes and Colorize Items.

Make color palettes at the station

Pick Produce Color Palettes to craft the dyes you will later spend on armor. The station holds 73 palette recipes, and each one produces 5 palettes over 300 seconds. Every palette is built from a single base ingredient plus a set of colorants.

Here is how several of the recipes come together. Each line lists the inputs and the output count:

  • New Moon: 1 Shroud Vapor, 2 Obsidian Dust, 2 Stapelia Starflower, 1 Granite makes 5 palettes.

  • From Dusk Till Dawn: 1 Shroud Sludge, 2 Granite, 2 Sulfur, 1 Gold Dust makes 5 palettes.
